Which do you prefer, and a logical reason as to why? "Because ___ sucks" does not count as logical :P

I prefer iOS. It's simple, intuitive, and fast than the Android phone I used to have. It just seems less cluttered and more minimalistic to me.

It absolutely comes down to personal taste. I can see why people like iOS; it's easy to use, simple, and functional. That's all great, but not for me.

Android to me is just so customizeable. You have widgets, home screens, and stuff, first of all. Also, you can change the browser, keyboard, launcher, and more. There are many apps for that on Google Play (formerly the Android Market). Look at all of the Android phones out there, the high end ones, the mid-range, and the low end ones. There are hundreds. That's choice. I can choose the specs of the device I want. If I want the newest and best, that's available. If I am on a budget, I can get one for free. The iPhone is available at one device level. They are good 2011 specs, but are never the best ones you can get. I can get at least 5 phones that are better than it (spec wise) and at least 20 others that are up to par to it. Plus you always have the option of 4G. Not on the iPhone, yet. To me, Android takes the card, for phones that is. Tablets are a different story. Most Android tablets are overpriced, and under speced. The iPad has good specs, for a decent price. Windows 8 tablets will be different, and I may like that. We'll see later.

Of course there's more on the topic, I just figured I should sum it up as much as possible, so I don't kill people's brains.

I prefer android. As said above it is so customizable, I love how unique it is, for example, drag down notifications, and I just love the layout of everything, how easy it is to develop and install custom ROMs on an Android device.

Actually, you guys raise a good point.
I honestly have no preference, both are fine with me.

Again. I have to agree. I prefer Android. Its incredibly flexible. Its cross device, phones as little as £40 can use it. Rooting isnt frowned upon. Its open source. It can be as complex as you want. Many, many reasons.
Sent from my ZTE Skate, running Android 2.3 :)

Basically, what everyone else said.

If you want your phone delivered to you and you pretty much like stuff "out of the box", then iOS is the way to go. However, Apple has several anti-competitive measures, which may turn you off to them. For example, if they create something and another product competes with them, they won't allow it on their store.

Try to find Google Chrome or Firefox for iOS...you can't, because it competes with Safari.

In addition, several people have died at their Chinese sweatshops -- look it up on Google. (I'm not saying that Android doesn't have the same issues, but IIRC, Apple had their situation covered up.)

The Apple phones say they're 4G, but in order to be LTE, you need a 4G antenna. You just can't take a 3G phone and get 4G speeds with it. It would be like taking a computer from 2008, putting Windows 7 on it and wondering why it isn't as fast as a computer from 2012...you need the current "guts" in order to get the top speeds.

If you want a 4G phone with the ability to customize things the way YOU want it, then Android is the phone for you.

The most popular OS?
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/03/comscore-android-ios-us-mobile-report/

It looks like about 13.4% of smartphone users have iPhones.

I really don't know if this is as Canadian thing (all carriers have offered iPhones here for years) but everyone has iPhones. Nearly all my friends have them, and I see far more people with them than any other smartphone. At work, almost every customer has an iPhone. Even older people embrace them. They outnumber blackberry and android by at least 10 to one here.

Keep in mind that it's easier to visually identify an iPhone. You see an iPhone and know it's iOS. You see a non-iPhone and you have to stop and think about what OS it is.

There's no doubt that iPhones ARE incredibly popular, but in terms of operating systems, that's another story.

Meanwhile, I wonder if fixing auto-correct is on Apple's priority list. It is BEYOND appalling, and the issues of misspelled words (DamnYouAutoCorrect.com) only seems to happen over there.

ios, my iphone is so simple, fast, and easy to use. Seeing as though, ive gone through a blackberry bold, droid 1,2,3 and thunderbolt and then to an iphone in the past two years, ive been through all. android is way to slow for my liking...

Exactly. You're changing the code around. Technically, it's a virus.

Here was one from back in the 3.1 days.

I prefer iOS 4, I have yet to jailbreak it, and I don't feel like updating it. That's what my future iPad will be for. :)

I've never own an Android device, so I can't say I favour that as of yet. I have been on some friends devices, and I have enjoyed them (even had a wiz on ICS, which is awesome). I do have iOS 5 and oh my fucking god is it laggy on my iPod.. No it's not jailbroken either.

I have owned 2 Android phones over the last year (Huawei Ascend X (Ideos X6) and the TMobile G2x). I have owned an iPod Touch since 2008 (2nd Gen and 4th Gen).

I really like Android, its flexible, easy to use, and open. I love how the wallpaper spreads between all pages. The variety is fantastic, and there is a phone for everyone. Its also handy to have as much removable storage as I want.

That being said, I would buy an iPhone if they came to TMobile. I'm sick of carrying around an iPod and a phone (don't give me crap about there being players on Android; I have all of my music on both, but there is no better music player than iOS). I can plug my iPod into my car radio via USB and it'll work no problem. There won't be any unwanted sounds or tones playing. There are guaranteed constant and significant updates for iOS. And the iPhone looks and operates a hell of a lot better and smoother than any Android I've ever used.

the new versions of Android are great in my opinion. I think it really comes down to the hardware...You cannot compare a crap $200 Android tablet to the latest high end iPad can you? I've played around on friend's HTC smartphones and they are excellent - just as fast, smooth, and easy to use as my ipod touch.

my friend has a droid, lots of viruses on it lol he had to get a new phone, which also picked up viruses and now crashes a lot and can't sign onto skype. My brother also has a droid, same problems.

That's very interesting. Unfortunately, this thread is over 2 months old, and is therefore a bump.
