Other than being more energy efficient, and brighter (even though my LED backlit macbook is about the same brightness as my fluorescent backlit monitor) is there any differences?

I don't really think it matters. LED can last longer, but so can LCD if you take proper care of it.
User preference, essentially.

Price usually. LED costs a lot more when it comes to tv and computers.

Depends on the LED technology being used really.
If it's edge-lit, then there's really no difference besides whites being a little whiter, and the obvious fact that the screens are thin as paper.
If it's LED matrix backlit, then some awesome things can happen. Such as localized backlight dimming, where one part of the screen can be absolutely black, and another part is bright as hell.
