My mom has decided to make my family Christian, I believe in god, and I respect him. But to me, a person who gave his life for us, should be respected, given the credit and the basics, but to worship that person is a but too much in my opinion. If I had sacrificed my life for the better of mankind I wouldn't want to be worshipped, but I wouldn't want to do that if I knew people wouldn't care if I did that. To me, doing that only because you wanted to be worshipped is wrong in many ways, and then to have people believe you did it to help them just makes it probably the biggest lie in the world. But, what do you think?

Remember friend, your god is a greedy, blood-lusting, selfish, and hateful being.
He kills everyone who doesn't worship him and sends them to an eternal hell, and if you're born with the "wrong genetics" and end up gay? Well god says "Shame on you!" and sends you off to hell too.
Were you nice to every single person you ever met? God doesn't care if you weren't worshipping him at the same time.
It's ridiculous, any omniscient and omnipotent being wouldn't need our continuous praise, and he sure as hell wouldn't cause intentional harm to innocent beings.

why do you have to take down all religion and all people who believe in religion? For thousands of years religious people executed anyone with the same thought-process as me. Do you even realize how many innocent people were SLAUGHTERED because of the Bible and the Lord's "Word"?
So many people dead all because of the existence of religion.

Agree, but the OP may have been referring to God as a more general topic. And some branches of Christianity refer Jesus as a God next to the God we all know. They consider him God the Son.

Millions of people die from war and still there are people who always support it and believe in it. How is that not the same?

Secondly, do you support war? The only ones who support war are the ones who have investments in the war and will gain money from it, such as the US government. For example, they made trillions of dollars by stealing the oil from Iraq.
Anyone who supports war just does not care how long the human's exist on this earth. War starts for many reasons, Natural Resources, Money, Cultural Differences, Changing political agenda by fooling citizens of a country, and lastly - Religion.
Now if you look at that list, which of them has caused more war? In truth, it's religion. More people have died from religious warfare, then they have from any other type of war. More innocent people have been slaughtered for being a "witch", or believing in scientifical advancement than you can even imagine.
People were killed for commiting heresy, which was believing anything other than what the church told you. "The universe doesn't revolve around the earth, you say? It revolves around the sun? KILL THIS MAN INFRONT OF THE TOWNSPEOPLE!"
This is especially hard for me, being a Canadian aboriginal. My entire tribe was starved to death by the European and French Christians, our culture destroyed, and our way of life completely forgotten.

War is a resort to another problem though, not an idea. people dont go to war because they want to, people dont fight over the idea of war but people do fight over the ideas in religion. and a large percentage of wars are over religion in one way or another. if it wasnt for religion i think the world would be more united thus less war in the first place

Oh for fuck's sake dude, can you ever write a single post that doesn't bash Christianity? In this case it doesn't even pertain to what the OP is asking. Stop acting like you're 13 and have just discovered what atheism is, and furthermore stop insulting members on this forum by being all angsty teenage Darwin. It's just childish and looks pretty damn stupid, no matter how mature you paint it to be.

They are not defined to be 1 being. They are 3, just in different forms and such.
And i do NOT support most wars, especially the Iraqi and Afghan wars.

I just want to point out that he doesn't condemn people who are gay, only those who act on those desires. God looks at all sin the same way. If you use the Lord's name in vain it's the same as stabbing someone. The point is if God can forgive someone who misuses his name he can just as easily forgive someone who acts on the temptations that come with being gay.
Besides being kinda egocentric, I'm sure Jesus wanted you to worship him so that no one forgot what he did and so that people could spread the good news.
I am an atheist. I do not believe in anything mentioned above, I just like being right.
Has it ever accured to you that we had our troops in Iraq, etc to keep the peace in the middle east and try to shut down further terrorist activity?

I have to agree with you, even though I'm an atheist. Worship? I never understood it. I get along with wiccans well because they tend to respect the god and goddess yet they have a mutual give and take relationship with them if I'm describing it accurately. I found it so much warmer than the relationship between a Christian and God. *shrug* He seems more like a dictator that you have no choice but to listen to.
Jesus would have supposedly did it out of love, and if that really was the case, then he would expect absolutely nothing in return. So I think Christians should be grateful of what he did, but this shit about "We owe him because he died for our sins" I think is incredibly flawed. God and Jesus either fit the loving grandfather role or the dictator role, they can't be both, but I hear them talked about as if they are both.

He's not. He's criticising religion, and he's making valid points too, I don't see what the problem is. Either prove him wrong or stop whining about it.
