I've done it a few times, usually only when i'm extremely horny or i have a lot of time on my hands. I personally think that it gives me stronger orgasms than usual, and it usually feels good. I've tried it twice, once with a dildo and once with a vibrator. The vibrator was great because it wasn't too big and.... it was a vibrator ;). The dildo on the other hand was big and it hurt so I stopped. I only do anal when I have a lot of time on my hands though.
