I read through the updated rules and I just have one confusion pertaining to visitor messages. It's this part:

"If they want to contact you, they can use the information in the Contact Info section of their profile or (given they have the requirements,) private message you. Messages asking for off-site contact will be deleted."

Does that mean I can't private message someone and ask if they have Skype or something like that, or does that only apply to the public visitor messages? The only reason why I ask is because I know that people can choose to display Skype among other things publicly on their profile, but I think it's only formal and polite to message them first for permission to contact them externally.

thanks! :)

Yeah, I think you can ask by PMs...that's how I interpreted that. however, I may be wrong...so don't believe me straight away :P

I think you can because it says this part: If they want to contact you, they can use the information in the Contact Info section of their profile or (given they have the requirements,) private message you

Of course you can PM them asking for their skype/whatever. Just don't send them a VM saying something like "hey check your inbox."
Not only is it rather redundant, but it means that you are really in a hurry to contact them. Based on patterns we have observed in the past, it almost invariably lead to illicit activities.
