I am finished ith one of my threads and I want to stop it but moderators aren't always on so I think users should be able to lock their own threads

Also can someone lock "Ugh." on Teen Sexuality thanks

Well if you hit the report button and say "request lock thanks" then someone will lock the post for you,

This would be awful. Users would lock posts left right and centro. Think if a user had been out smarted in a debate. They might just go and lock it for the sake of it. Also locking posts at random would take place and overall could turn the forums into a mess.

It's rare that a moderator will not lock a thread if you ask him/her nicely enough.

In my opinion this would be a bad idea and could make the forums into a lock at any time zone and would disrupt them quite a bit.

Like I said if you want a thread locked pm a member of staff or go to the original post you posted and hit the report button it may take time but will be locked eventually or you will be pmed with notification if otherwise.

Exactly what Derri said. It could lead to fights, bashing, etc..
Also, how hard is it to just report the post and ask for a lock? The mods try to be on as much as they can, but they have lives as well.

Also, I believe if this privilege is given, then users would be given the option to delete their own posts and threads, which causes even more problems.

and to add on to this, it would get abused and over used. its been said no to before.
