Something about the layout of VT cant wrap my head around Yet! but I think there should be thanks button. few posts i would like to thank other users for their input without having to write a whole post. Just an idea till i come up with more. :D

You can give them positive rep, and either just sign it or say thank you and sign it.

Thanks buttons are really only good when you have small communities.

Rep+ or Rep- is a good system for our community. Simply because:

1) It allows more feedback in the comment to be given
2) It allows more opinions to get through
3) The original poster can receive more direct feedback on his or her post-this is also the same with other posters.

Overall the rep system, while it does have its flaws (name a system that does not have it's flaws) rep is better than a thanks button when it comes to large communities like this.

Thats a fair system so. Ya i was just taking the idea from another V bulletin site. which uses the thanks system in large communities.

Don't get me wrong it can be used on a large scale.

Depending on the type of forums or the purpose of said forums it can be useful. However with a community like VT rep is a better option because while it means nothing to most users, it does give other users to thank or give them thumbs up for there advice while leaving a comment. I prefer to give comments along with a + or - rep because I find its my way of saying good advice. or bad advice.

I would also like to add while I remember to. That being new. rep might sound like a terrible idea or one in which you might dislike. But as you grow in the forums and begin to like it. You will find rep to be a much more useful. I mean I myself when a newer member created 2 or 3 threads on the subject and found that trying to change it never worked and with time I learned to accept that rep itself is a better option and can be put to good use if you give appropriate and well structured comment.

No problem, I mean a thank you button is not a terrible idea. However I don't think it would get used too much or if it did people would not use it effectively as they do rep. However that is just my opinion.

People use the rep system effectively? Hardly.

The rep system gets abused as it is; a thank you button would just get annoying and clog up the pages even more than they already are.

I don't see the necessity for this feature.

Of course I am not trying to completely imply rep is used seriously. God No. What I am saying as for some users who do use it, they can find it effective and it is a way of letting a user know what they think of there posts. I would never fully imply that rep is a serious thing or that people never abuse it. Because we all know people do. I probably have used it ineffectively before just as we all have. But it can be used effectively. I am just saying rep is a better option to a thanks button because rep can lead to allowing users to give an opinion on posts.
