Okay, so I am reading this story on the internet about this gay guy. And his mom finds out, and she tries to force him to go to ex-gay classes. OMG, when I found out that those really do exist, it made me kind of queasy.
My question is, they can't really work, can they? Do they electric shock you to make you think liking other boys is sinful and wrong?
I believe I was born this way, so it will be a cold day in Hell before I ever go to a class like that.

Of course they don't. If your gay, YOU ARE GAY! And it's so sad that out of fear and cowardice, people send their own children off to 'camps' which try to 'correct' their 'irrational behaviour' towards the same sex. They should really be banned. The thought of being put into a camp because others percieve you as different is sickening.
I have heard of experiments where they would show gay people pictures of other men and shock them or cause some sort of mild pain so that they would associate the same sex with pain and reward thinking about the opposite sex with some sort of positive response. Personally, i think i would rather just be elctrocuted than have to bear psychological torture.

This is disgusting! I believe you are born gay and people are who they are. No one should try and stop them from doing it. I cannot believe a class like this actually exists :O. And people who sends others to it should be ashamed because being gay is a way of life I don't believe it is a choice. I may be wrong but it's what I think.

It has been scientifically proven that sexual orientation, in one way or another, is related to your genetics. These "classes" only make people feel worse about themselves, and never end up changing things in the end. People think this can be changed, but alas, I do not believe it can, and it shouldn't.

That shouldn't happen, making feel bad about something they can't and shouldn't change. People should stop being so closed minded and let others be themselves. Those "experiments" wouldn't change how they feel, it would just cause people to lie to themselves and feel as though they've done wrong when they haven't.

Why would people run those classes? Those are just totally wrong, ugh...

It's stupid how these classes exist, it is a form of cruel and unusual punishment for doing nothing wrong. They should be illegal. But since they arent it is sad when a family results to this.

Precisely. Often what these "classes" result in is severe depression and/or suicide.

^what Bradi said. People kill themselves when they can't be who they are. If you're gay you're gay and that's just fine, in my opinion.

Your sexuality has to do with a lot of things, such as your genetics and environment. I doubt they really work, it just makes them suppress how they really feel. I have to agree, you'd have to do a lot to get me to even go near this kind of class.

I've heard like they show naked pictures of men and shock you so you can't get sexually aroused

It looks like California is trying to ban those lame ex-gay classes for people under 18:

Yay, it looks like they got something right after all. To all of the moms and dads out there, I WAS BORN THIS WAY. I did not choose to be attracted to other boys. :)
