This is random but I'm happy to finally have found someone else with Insomnia -.- Anywho, I heard of it before, but it'd supposed to be due to self harming when your awake. *Supposedly* Your subconscious is already defaulted to self harming when bad feelings come into play, and when your asleep your subconscious is totally in control, and if you go to bed with bad feelings and hand the reins to your default setting, it does what it thinks it should, self harm. Maybe your fear of the nightmares is fueling it? I have no idea, but I'm here to talk if you need to, up all night, up all day, open anytime. *sigh*

Normally when this happens... someone else has caused the marks, i.e. abuse in your sleep.
Go see a doctor to consult this.

I am little late posting to this, but the OP said she was an Insomniac, and normally (no Idea about her, OP please correct me if this doesn't affect you) Insomniacs are very light and troubled sleepers whom wake up often, and to the littlest noises. If someone was abusing her, don't you think she would wake up?

If she is harming herself in sleep, as I said, go to the doctor.

Of course  I was just curious. I know that if someone ruffles the sheets too loud in my bed room when I'm asleep I wake up, every Insomniac is different, but that seems to be a rather common trait. Another question, If she is self-harming whn she is awake, but she doesn't want anyone to know, would it be smart to consult a doctor for self-harming in her sleep :what:

You could punch my face while I was asleep and I wouldn't wake up...
Different for everyone I guess.

Don't feel bad. A few times I fell asleep crying, and when I woke up I had scratches and a few bruises. I know I have MAJOR sleep issues too; I take a good dose of Ambien now. I'm by no means a doctor a doctor, but you should talk to your doctor about some kind of tranquilizer. They give you bizarre dreams and stuff, but at least they aren't scary. Also, they make you feel really heavy, so you don't move much in your sleep. Then again, I don't know your situation, so I might be way off base.
Well either way, I hope you get it sorted out. I know you can really feel like crud when you're sleep deprived, and I wish you the best!!!
