This is more of a rage and enquiry rather than discussing a favourtie band but i was interested in other peoples opinons.
So 'Pop', is it music or is it just a business which breeds a broken culture of morals and more business.
The pop I'm referring to is your typical Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, Chris Brown, Ed Sheeran (?), Katy Perry, Flo Rida etc.
As a musician, I value music itself. If i listen to my favourite band or any band/artist, the lyrics usually go in one ear and out the other! I focus on the music itself and each little subtle detail. Listening to pop... it just bores me. The lyrics, the same. The music videos, the same. The music itself, pretty much the same. Artists, becoming the same.
The music videos are just so explicit, especially for younger people. They love a catchy chorus and will immediately want to copy the dance or the lyrics or whatever they prefer. But they don't actually realise what they are saying or doing. The lyrics in songs today are just so dirty and explicit in a sexual nature and so are the dances!
I'd love to know from people who enjoy this music, what is it that makes you like it!? Is it just the catchy chorus? the synthesized beats? They syntheisized music or the culture itself? It seems the pop culture sets the trends these days. Mainly clothing. It's like, it used to be everyone had to have the latest phone or gadget, and now everyone has to have the latest tune.
Seriously, what is it about this music which is so appealing?
