Well
Why do I recommend Android to friends?
I tell you why.
Android is incredibly easy to use as it's GUI is simple to understand, and the prompt windows you get in android alone are so useful, they let you do anything
You can just hold down a picture and BAM; upload to facebook or twitter
Download something from the web and BAM; a whole download progress bar is in the notifications

The only one thing Android doesn't come with by default is Screenshot, but soon this should be implemented
and were you aware that android 4.0 has FACE UNLOCK O_O

Android is cool. But I really do prefer my iPhone now. I feel like anyone who picks up an iPhone is instantly going to know how to use it.

I personally wouldn't because I prefer iOS (iPhone Operating System)
I recommend DoodleJump, it's a game which entertains me for a while if I have nothing to do.

I have an iPhone, but really I never owned any phone that is run on Android. I've used them before, and from what I've seen you can really customize the phone to your liking, unlike the iPhone. So it's really a matter of whether you want something simple, or whether you want to have a phone that fits to your liking.

Android 4.0 ICS has screenshot too, and just as a note, face unlock works amazingly well (I use it on my Galaxy Nexus).

Yes, and no.

First, are you referring to a phone or tablet? Let's do both scenarios:

Phone: Yes! It is the perfect OS for anyone who wants customization. They have so many features that you change that can help it make it look like yours. If you took 100 random people with iPhones and made them identify which one was theirs, there would be mix up, I guarantee. Take 100 people with the same Android phone, there would be very few problems identifying theirs. Also, there are apps that allow you to change teh keyboard, launcher, and more. And then of course there is rooting, which is like jailbreaking an iPhone, but better, You can have roms, themes, and modification to make your phone the best it can be.

Tablets: No, or yes. The current crop of Android tablets are very limited, and most are crap. There are a few that are good, like the Asus Transformer Prime, and some others by Motorola, Samsung, Acer, and Asus, but other than that, they are outdated, and they cost just as much as an iPad for not the same thing.
Let me just say, I hate Apple products. They are all so similar, and are boring, and overrated. But the iPad to me, is the best tablet right now. They are reliable and are fast, and you can jailbreak it to make it cool too. The lead may go to Windows 8 tablets though, because Windows 8 was really meant for tablets.
Right now, I am shopping for a tablet myself, and I would easily buy an iPad 2 refurbished for $349. Perfect right now. But I am waiting for some other tablets to come out and see if anything will change my mind. I am gonna wait until like May, so I got a month or so to see.

Hope this helps!

Well since you live in the US, there is 4.0.4 out for some devices. I know the Galaxy Nexus has 4.0.3 and is on Verizon, and some phones on AT&T have been updated too I think.

Android is great but you have to charge the device at least once in two days.

It actually depends on what things you are running, and how efficient your phone is in general.

I would definately recommend it, I have a samsung galaxy w and absolutely love it. I'm not the best with technology in general but I found it really simple to navigate and use.

Personally I would still have an iPhone was it affordable however an android is the next best thing. I can do everything from it.

Battery life can be an issue, depending on screen brightness etc. in theory the standby time is relatively long however take a few phone calls, send a few texts and leave your Internet on and the battery life can drain fairly quickly. However I'm looking to buy another battery for a couple of pounds to solve that problem.

If you run lots of applications at the same time, then you will have to charge your phone/tablet frequently. Even more so if they use a lot of resources, which will also make your phone/tablet heat up more quickly.

Android is awesome and doesn't have an idiotic app approval method. I recommend it to my friends all the time, more of my friends have Android than iOS. However, I do not. :(

I use my phone only for calls lately and sometimes a quick check of mail.
this way the battery of my HTC ChaCha need to be charged about once in two days.

And yet, while it may appear to you that your phone is only doing a few simple things, your vendor has certainly put some crapware on the phone that is running in the background, using up battery power. It won't show in the Task Manager program because the crapware was engineered so that it wouldn't show up.

While you are right, you should never, I repeat, never use a task manager or task killer to kill your apps. If an app is unresponsive, you should force close it in the Manage Apps section of settings. Task killers and managers mess up the software and can actually slow down your phone because you are killing some of the things that are necessary for the phone to run properly. After Android 2.2, task killers and managers shouldn't be used. If you wanna read more (or simply don't believe me) you can read the article from Lifehacker here. I don't get what you try to claim here.
It's a common knowledge that Android devices' disadvantage is a quick running out batteries.
and I don't have a contract with any network, I can paste any sim-card inside and it will work.
I doubt that HTC constructors install any crap besides Android.
