Ok this is prob one of the less serious debates...
Do you think we humans underestimate Dolphins?
and is there more that meets the eye I mean like do you think they can do what we do up here?
My reason behind: dolphins have really large brains(I think bigger than us), they have a super complex language, they have names for each other, they apparnently are horny often and are known to be able to RAPE human each year, their the only other mammal that have "gays", are known to often screw with other animals, also they have been known to save people from sharks(I don't think many other creatures doing that):)

Urm in my opinion no, dolphins should not be treated as equals to humans because that honestly would be the most stupid thing. How you'd even go about making them equal beats me, give them rights, build them homes, no idea?
Oh yes, I think those fins one in very handy for writing, building and whatever else it is we do. Oh god im going to stop here and not even venture into what you write in the second paragraph. My head might explode for trying to understand how you even thought this up :/

Haha I was thinking the same thing too when I first heard about it, just saying becuse my friend did this for her graduation project at school, you'd be suprised what dolphins can do if u kno more about them instead of taking an arrogant approach, I meant rights as in more openess in seas ect, and not they prob don't have homes but maybe like a neighborhood where they just float around in, well obviously they can't write but they r easily the second most intelligent animal on earth

You might call me arrogant but come on, really? SECOND most intelligent animal being the operative word there. I don't see how you could think giving equal rights to dolphins and humans is right especially when a substantial portion of the world's population have no rights anyway. Giving them more freedom in the sea? Well the sea is all they have and although in some places we restrict the boundaries they can get to its usually for a reason.

The majority of people in under-developed nations don't have equal rights, on a global scale women have yet to receive the same rights as men, there is still racio-ethnic inequality, socio-economic inequity, tribo-linguistic prejudice. Humans worldwide have yet to live under complete egalitarianism and here's this thread calling for... equal rights to.. dolphins?
I'm all for animal rights and I do believe that lines can be drawn to protect species from extinction and I do have a lot of sympathy for other species. But what you're postulating is absurd, that we offer equal rights to a species that we can only communicate with on a basic scale when we can't even make sure every human being holds the same prerogative as one another. It's irrealistic.

Believe me I'm not ranting for animal rights I also believe we should focus more on human than animals but I just wanted to ask if you acknoloedge if dolphins r smarter than most of us think

Why would you give dolphins equal rights when hundreds of millions of people around the world still don't have equal rights? If we can fix that, then maybe we can consider dolphins.
