Hey guys,

Ive been having a problem lately, its when im in bed, here goes....

When i go to bed i usually lay awake for a while when i eventually start to drift off to sleep i sometimes get a huge jolt, like a flinch and sometimes a flash (my eyes are closed when this is happening) I cant explain when it happens, its like when your lost in thought and thinkin and your almost asleep, when sometimes you open your eyes and your like damn i was nearly asleep, thats when it happends, i usually gasp for breath when this happens too.

Can someone please tell me what is going on because its really weird!!!!

I don't know any way of telling what that is, and I think you should go see a doc.
Might be related to stress!

Try not eating as much sugar before you go to sleep.

Yeah i have experienced this myself. Sometimes, just as im about to fall asleep, its a huge jolt.. it feels like your sitting still on your bike, and you fall off to the side sort-of-thing. I have no idea what it could be, it may be due to sugar consumption, or maybe stress.

I usually get that if I have a dream and I fall. But I sometimes get it randomly. I t can be quite scary!

From what my mom told me a few years ago, it's completely normal. It's just a muscle spasm in your leg, and happens unexpectedly. I havent had one in months.

I don't think this has anything to do with sugar consumption befroe going to bed, it's basically a wierd thing that happens when you are just about to go un-concious. Your body turns off you 'balance sensors' and this is normally meant to happen after you go un-concious, but someteims it can occur before you go un-concious. If this does happen, you should within theory feel a 'falling' sensation and your body's natural reaction to this is to flinch hence the muscle spasm. There's a proper medical term for this but I'm too tired to remeber lol. Hope this helps a bit more.

Oh, and it's completely normal.

I Think I get that sometimes. It usually feels like I just fell lol.

I know other people who have gotten that, so I assume it's not uncommon. I don't worry about it though.
