VI
When I left the room I knew exactly where I had to go. I went down the long corridor that was pretty bare with only torches along the sides and the occasional door. I than went down the stone staircase that ran through all 6 levels of the castle until I reached the third landing. I than went down to the forth door on the right and announced myself.
“King Xavier the third hereby seeks entrance into the room for a development of plan!” I said using my voice I usually use for spectators.
“Sir why even do you announce yourself you realize as King no one can do anything about you just barging in.”
I decided to take this as a yes and went in and on the other side of the room was a very basic room. All there were in it was a bed and a wardrobe with some random maps hanging on the walls. But the person on the other side of the door was anything but plain he was a well built, fit man, his cyan eyes shone with a certain passion that anyone just meeting this guy would find it difficult NOT to like this guy.
“Hello my King how may I assist you.” The man said.
“Hello again Braden if I’m talking to you of course you know the issue.” I said patiently.
“Yes of course if you’re coming directly to your chief of military and not using a messenger there must be some major trouble brewing.”
“You don’t even know the half of it but long story short the undead have us out numbered nearly three to one.”
“Sir you of all people should know that numbers do not win a war it’s the tactics that will ultimately decide a battle.”
“But numbers do most certainly help you have more tactics at your disposal.”
“That is most certainly true.” Braden said matter-of-factly. “But in the end having a bigger brain is much more useful.”
“I suppose that is a really good point as well but I don’t know I think that with overwhelming odds like this it would be a dramatic hit on moral and maybe even more than capable of defeating me I mean just one invasion force wiped out the vast majority of our army and it wasn’t even their whole army maybe only a third of there total strength.”
“Okay now you’re just talking as if you’re already defeated.”
“I guess you’re right it’s just so much has been battering me at the same time I think I just needed to clear my head.”
“Well here.” Braden said pulling out a board with alternating black and white squares. “Nothing can clear the mind like a good new fashion game of chess.”
“I suppose that works but don’t cry too much when you lose.”
“Okay sir don’t use your kingly status and force me to lose.”
“Wait I can do that can’t I.”
“Yes you can sir I wouldn’t lie.” He paused a second. “Too much.”
With that they engaged into a game of chess.
After half an hour Braden lay victorious and I took my leave as I still had more work to do.
I than had to do the long hike back up to the fifth floor. I got to the door I was looking for. This door I knew I could enter unannounced seeing just how organized the occupant was but I suppose it comes when you have trained within the magic arts. Such a gift is extremely rare nearly as rare of someone planning a war on someone who has nearly three times there forces.
“Hello Incisor My Sorceress.” I said announcing my self and adding on the title as is required just from the sheer lack of people with such a skill as magic.
“Hello My King why do I have the humble honor of hosting you?” She said the firm defined jaw moving. Her body was pretty much pure bone as people with the art of magic don’t really need to do any activity and therefore cant build muscle at the same time they ration what they as if u can summon food on will your not really at threat of starving. As characteristic with the sorcerers and sorceress’s there eyes were just white with black pupils so if nothing else you can always identify a magical human so you can run away as most people do.
“I need help for the coming war.”
“You know very well using magic in war is against the rules of war.”
“I know I know I don’t need you to cast lightning bolts from the sky or anything of the sort all I need is some more ‘oracle advice’ if u can.”
“OHHHHHH so you want me to give you some advice so if that’s the case here’s my advice than seeing your out numbered so dramatically” I was phased by this so she continued “Don’t forget I can read thoughts. But back to the matter at hand what your best bet probably is to get as many troops as you possibly can and get a new intelligence report to find out the weaponry being imposed on you but as there the undead your probably going to be facing a lot of halberds as that’s there style but you never know they may have some surprises up there sleeve for us just be ready to counter what ever they do.”
“Thank you My Sorceress with out farther hast I will take my leave.” And left the room and found the nearest crier and gave him some very specific orders and with that I went back to my private chambers.
