Hi.
So I just did some thinking, and I'm surprised (as far as I know) that this hasn't been suggested before.
I think that a YouTube channel with input (from members also) about thing such as the topics here. (http://www.virtualteen.org/topics/) could have benefits. The only reason I can see why not is that the general whole thing about videos on self-harm and suicide seen to be glamourising self harm and suicide. Although the point of it should be made very clear.
I, again, would be more than willing and able to help with multiple aspects of this.

I see Virtual Teen as a place to be more private, and kept to be itself; where users can comfortably maintain anonymity and escape from the outside world. By Virtual Teen having it's own, public YouTube channel it would be putting users' anonymity at risk, and broadcasting their safe-haven for the world to see. Sure, VT is for everybody (within the age gap), but with that serious attention is drawn to it, and the possibility of adults viewing, I'm sure a good number of the members would feel a lot less safe and would begin to feel as if the site was more of a public place. People post here because of the fact that it is not somewhere where all of their friends are, where their parents might lurking or where every person on YouTube can find them.

This is kind of similar to the idea that VT should have a Facebook page, which has been proposed and shot down in the past. They're similar in the sense that users' information could be easily obtained, seen and shared; not necessarily in a dangerous sense (which is a possibility wherever you post on the internet), but in a sense that their friends may find their way to the site more easily and see the sensitive, personal posts which they have been posting for days, weeks, months and for some of us it's been years.

Well you have a good vision, I'll give you that, but VT is a very secret place to most people on VT. VT is a place to get away from society, to be able to vent without having your shit spied on by people you know. Youtube gets a lot of viewers and a huge ratio of age group. VT is not supposed to be like that and advertised. Its on google, but only if you're lucky enough to stumble upon it on a search and thats the way it should be.

Mikey states very true.

That actually makes quite a lot of sense, okey.
But it's not what my point was. My point was that advice and help - in the form of audio/visual media - could be posted. No?

I thought your point was "VT (relevant) YouTube Channel"

Anyways, I don't think it's a good idea, in my opinion. There are many different videos already with many of the subjects on the forum, and it just leads to commitment from many people having to make videos with their already busy lives. It's easier to just write a response. There was going to be some sort of podcast group but I'm not sure what happened to that. Surely if people didn't make much interest in that, they wouldn't take much interest in making videos either. Also, how would videos be posted? As a thread? You could just youtube tag a video and it would do the same thing, the media does not have to be forum-specific.

Doing that in a public media outlet such as YouTube, one of the biggest, is just inappropriate, as I, Ronnie and Sandeep all said. I just don't think it's a good idea.

This could also lead to many over the age people signing up.

As well as underaged people. The list of why-not's seems to go on and on here, which generally is not a good thing for a suggestion.

I'll echo what's already been said. We don't promote VT out of the website for these reasons, and I'm sure most of our member base would agree with that.
