Josiah and Dimitri, these questions are directed towards you two. I was wondering if you two could provide me with information about hydroceles.

I just got back from the ER (today has not been a good day) after getting an ultrasound to check for a torsion. Right testicle was hurting the day before and tenderness followed. Initial pain yesterday was a 6,7/10 and today at 1pm was around a 2,3/10 but gradually increased to about a 5 currently. I was told I had a hydrocele. Did some research into it, but I'm not completely sure what may have caused mine. Not looking forward to seeing a urologist who is going to put any sharp object near my prized bag.

Ouch sorry to hear about that, trust me I've had suspected torsion (It wasn't thank god) but any pain in that region is not the best. Although this isn't a area I know heaps about. For those who have no idea what it is, a hydrocele is a collection of fluid in a sac in the scrotum next to a testis, usually on one side.

As for causes, all I can find is;
The cause is not known in most cases.
A small number of hydroceles are caused when something is wrong with one of the testes. For example, infection, inflammation, injury or tumours of a testis may cause fluid to be formed which leads to a hydrocele forming.
Sometimes hydroceles develop when there is generalised swelling of the lower half of the body due to fluid retention.

Dimitri may have more knowledge on this condition than I.

This is quite informative - http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Hydrocele.htm

Hope you don't need it drained for it, sometimes they can be left alone, sometimes not. Hope it passes, keep us updated :)

Ohhh shit man, I am sorry to hear that, I personally do not have any experience with hydroceles but here (http://vsearch.nlm.nih.gov/vivisimo/cgi-bin/query-meta?query=hydrocele&v%3Aproject=nlm-main-website) is a wonderful search that I already did, you just need to click and read, also look around at some of the other possible links, I hope this helped some.
