I think that when you open a thread that has multiple pages of comments, the top of the page should show the original comment by the OP, and after that, it should show comments from the LAST page, not the FIRST page. This way, it encourages people to continue posting, and post relevant stuff to what has recently been posted. Not give whoever posts the first message all the attention.

Interesting suggestion mate, some forums actually do this. It might confuse some users though. I think the best idea would be to keep the linear format so the thread is easy to read from start to finish.

I think you can do what you're saying if I understand right. At the top right of each thread it says "display mode" you can change it to whatever you like there.

Leaving the OP at the top of every page isn't a selectable display mode though.
I agree with Jon here, as long as we leave the linear format I don't see a problem adding this display mode.

I think you can change it in "edit Options" through your user cp

I checked and I don't think there is an option for the first post to show on all pages...

I took a look at that, the format the OP is requesting is not in there...I read the help page explaining the different modes and none of them seem to make the first post remain on all pages.
or am I just blind? >_<

Oh okay, I'm sorry I think I understand now. Yeah you're right, there isn't anything like that.

On other forums that I've seen this implemented on, as default, there's been a bit of a problem with people posting the same answer/message over and over again because they didn't see that one of the first posts was actually the 'correct' answer. But then again that happens a lot anyway so it may not make much of a difference.
