Here in the UK, you have to opt in to have your organs donated when you die. There is a big debate as to whether it should be an opt out scheme instead.

I for one would like my organs to be donated when I die, heart, liver, lungs, kidneys and eyes (I think it is the retina they use), that means 8 different people could have life saving operations to keep on living.

Would you?

The state my body is in I'm not going to be allowed to, im in need of a transplant currently and may need more in the future so i can't see myself being able to. But if i could i would, without a doubt.

i'm not sure in the past I've said everything but my heart and my eyes but then I thought if I ever needed either I'd accept them so I think I've decided that donating anything is okay with me now.

If I ever needed to have a transplant, I'd accept somebody else's organs, so why not give my own if I can? The thought kind of skeeves me out, but if I'd be wanting somebody else's and not give my own away to somebody in need, when they would just be rotting in the Earth I would be extremely selfish. Somebody I'm close with is in need of one and that's made me think a little bit about it, so without a doubt I'll check off that little organ doner box when I get my license this month :P

I would. I see no need to deny anyone the right. I mean, I'm dead, and I have no use to it. I believe that they should opt into it, though. It doesn't seem right if they forget to check the no to have like their entire body taken away. *shrugs*

I'm not quite sure on how I feel about donating my organs... It would be a major decision for me, so I'd have to think it through for a while.

If I needed a transplant then I would be using organs from organ donors, so it only fair, logical and just plain right to donate my organs when I die. I won't need my organs when I die anyways, so I may as well save lives with them

Well, I'm at a high risk for hepatitis so, I guess no liver. As far as everything else goes, sure. I'd take my friend's kidney if I was dying (probably near the end with days of refusal), so why not donate my own?

I'm not giving my organs when I die, just in case they find a way to bring me back, maybe as zombie :p

Without a doubt, yes. Honestly, my body, when dead, will just be another body. It wouldn't matter who's. Just give it to somebody who could have a chance at life.

If I can save 3 or 4 lives, it's the best thing I can do.

I have already signed up for organ donation :)

I prefer it the way it is right now.

If people want to have there body used for medical science then to me that's there job to say so. Not for the government to assume so just because I have not filled out a form to declare my body to not be used for medical science.

Yes, I would love to donate my organs, there are people who are in need of them then they should get them.

I would donate everything if I can. I'll decompose and my organs will rot at waste if I decide not to. My parents think I'm crazy for doing it.

I would totally donate to save someone else. If I'm dead, I don't need my organs anyway.

Yes I will, I'll become an organ donor on my licence, I actually get little upset seeing those who won't

i dont know if this is legal but when i die i would just like to be thrown iin the ground and when i've decomposed enough i would like to have a tree grow from that area... dont know if legal or entirely logical but its what i would like.

It is not illegal as long as it is listed in your will and follows state and local laws but I like your idea.

And I would donate anything that an be useful to some in need after my death.

I have donated blood once so far, and I plan on in about 6 weeks when I am able to donate again, I also have to get around to donating my organs.

Also I heard alot that England everyone was donating unless they opted out. I don't think you should force people to donate. But here in people loving Canada we donate stuff because we feel it's right, also in Canada it's illegal to accept money for bodily fluids. I mean after 9/11 it took people hours on end to donate blood at clinics because everyone was donating not because we were asked but because we wanted too. I think England needs a culture change instead of a law change.

- my two cents

I would gladly donate my organs. I am dead, why the hell do I need my organs? I don't. There are millions of people out there who need them more than I do. Babies, small children, ect.

Which is better; one person dying and giving an organ. -OR- Both dying and no organs are exchanged? I would pick the first one, but you tell me.

If my body is in good enough condition, I would deffinitely choose to donate my organs. Seeing as I wouldn't be making use of them any time soon after that, they might as well be used to help someone who WILL need them.

I would definitly let my brain be donated, then someone who needs a transplant oof the part fo the brain that proccessess logic, and the memory center of the brain could then live on with my memories and abilities to proccess logic, it would be like living as if you were given a new body and the memories of someone else. I would also donate my eyes, as well as my spinal cord, you never know when you may need a spinal transplant! And I know my spine is in great shape! :D

However, when I am old and have done all that I wished to do but wish to be able to do what I could when I was young. I would like to have the part of my brain that proccessess logic and the memory centers of my brain transplanted to a younger body. I don't think I would care which gender body either. but I would like to have a body that is atleast 13 but as young as 10 years old. the age of a body I would like to be transplanted to will probably change by then too. If you have lived a long life have more to offer to the world and wish to offer more to the world, why let yourself die then? why not get a more youthful body so you can give more to the world? I know it sounds weird but its a new thought that this post has inspired me with, its a procedeur that has been shown succesful when done on mice.

I just relized who bad that sounds to use someone elses body to live on... I feel bad now... O-O
I would only do that if they could manage to make test tube humans for organ transplants by then, that or find someone who is dieing due to a failed brain operation. if i take on the body of someone with a surgicaly failed brain I would be atleast putting that person out of his or her misery. After that body gets old I will then have every one of the organs donated. aswell as the organs of my old body donated after the surgery is done.

TOTALLY AGREEE!!!! I think an opt out rule should be put into practice and if my organs are donated i would consider it a great honour to extend a persons life as i hav lived mine to its fullest :D

I think it should be the law that you must have your organs donated. I don't see why you'd want to keep them and not be able to use them, seems a bit selfish if you don't donate.

I'm already on the organ donor register so ive no problems there. Although I do think it should be someone's right to decide whether they want to be on the register or not, I don't think the government should be able to just decide they want you're organs. My kidneys are stuffed anyway so they wont want those, and they dont want my blood either which is a little upsetting but understandable I suppose.
Although I did specify that I didn't want anything taken for medical research and my brain is who I am, so that's staying. But then again its other peoples bodies and opinions and this is mine ;)
