I broke my rule of never cutting my arms today. I have 3 semi-long cuts on my upper forearm. Looks a bit like a cat scratch, and I was going to use that excuse if anyone asked... Except I don't have cats. I could probably convince my friends it was a cat, but I have no clue what to tell my parents if they see it.

Any ideas? I need a little help... not feeling too creative at the moment.

EDIT: I have not been anywhere but at school. I supposed my problem is how to blame them on a cat when I've been no where near cats lately.

Have you tried other methods of releasing the build up that cause you to self-harm?
You shouldn't hide the fact you're hurting, it only makes it worse.
Find someone to talk to about whatever it is that's going on, holding it in will not solve it.

Now, hiding the cuts, just you tripped? It's gotten me out of the same predicament before.
If you ever want someone to just talk to, feel free to send me a message or something. =)
I'll gladly try to help :)

Cutting is never a good thing to hide, but if you are, i suggest saying it was at a friends house who has cats. Good luck! :)

If it's your upper arm then you could always say you were walking past some brambes? Or just plants/bushes in general because no one can really comment anything on that.

Just say that you were walking through an area with plants, or maybe you scraped it on a fence at school? Do whatever you think. If you're parents aren't stupid, then you may have to come up with something that could have happened in the places that you previously were. Do you get me?

Good luck!

It's not so simple, actually. The cuts look nothing like random scrapes from a plant, it looks like a cat scratch. They're three cuts right up next to each other, so it's not likely a plant excuse will work... The problem is, I haven't been anywhere but at school lately, so when the heck could I have gotten scratched by a cat?

On a rose bush or on a fence or something or wear long sleeves

The thing is, people are sooooo stupid. I have random diagonal ones on my lower leg that look nothing like anything that could have been made by accident. When my friends asked my about them I clammed up and started panicking. Then another friend comes in and says "is it a graze?" so I went along with it.
They honestly can't see what it rreally is, another friend saw scars that hadn't been covered by my leggings and said "I wish I had lines on my skin" oh god how I nearly laughed at that.
Please don't worry about it so much, its very likely people won't notice very much anyway.

I totally agree with this! I have 3 fingernail scratches on the back of my hand (very bad, drew blood and now over a month later the scars are very visible). Stupid and obvious I know. I thought "Ok, that's it. My parents will know now". My mum asked what the scratches were, and I told her. "I did it myself, I had a mosquito bite". She didn't make the connection to self harm. People are stupid.

As much as I disagree with cutting, just say you were at a friends house with cats or an even better one: You just ran by some brambles/thorns/whatever and cut your _____. Easily believable, and happenned to me once irl. I was just a kid skipping along and waving my hands and all, skipped pass a rosebush and brought my hand up and I had like three deep cuts......
