I'd say why does it matter at all, I always have been fan of Merdeces for some reason, probably their silver colour! I don't like lots of BMW cos their yucky. Sorry. :P

The G55 drives like a bucket of excrement.
Other AMG's are lovely though, particularly the ML, C, E and S Classes.
BMW's are too soul-less to me from what I've been in - I never really loved ours. They are too over complicated, and having had a car with it, iDrive is hopeless!
BMW, when they forget about the computer rubbish make a beautiful drivers car, but an Mercedes (particularly when you compare AMG to M Performance) still has more character and soul, because on the road it doesn't matter how fast the car is around the track.
My parents have had both, but when they upgraded my mums car a few months back, they skipped both and bought a Jaguar.

Although the M5 is just a near perfect car, Mercedes-Benz has always been my favorite car company, hands down.
The CLK-GTR is just the best, the SLR was epic, and the SLS has sooooooooo much swag. The S-class models are at the forefront of not only technology and luxury but in power as well. My friend has an E63 AMG and it is an incredible car, so fast.

They both have so many models, I'm not sure I could choose which I personally like better. Until recently (like the past 5 years) I really didn't like BMW. I felt there was nothing special about them, as far as how they look. I feel that way about Lexus. I would not spend that much money for average looks. But BMW has some hot cars now.

Depends which car the c63 and sls have ghe best engine in the world and the new amgs are a bit of a let down since the old engine

I love BMWs and I practically would be happy with any of them, however if money were no object I'd probably buy a 760iL... or an M5... or an X6 M... or an M3...

Not to say I don't like Mercedes, but there are only four Mercs I'd buy.

I like Mercedes better because of the interior styling. Much better than BMW's. I, personally like the E-, C-, and GLK-Class.
