Ok so I'm not sure when it comes to genders, German specifically

When I say something like "You are the boss" "Sie sind der boss", do I change gender to who I'm speaking to or do I leave it to the gender of the word "boss"?

- Merci

German nouns regarding jobs and occupations change according to the gender of the person who's doing it.

Forseti is absolutelly right! Even English language doesn't have such big distinctions as other European languages that's why it is very important in German and many others to mention the gender.
