I watched the Hunger Games a few days too late. I just watched it today. I had so much homework over the weekend and I didn't have a chance to watche the movie. The movie was better than I expected it to be, but it left out some details that I would have included, including the dogs having the eyes of eyes of Rue, and all the other dead tributes and I would have made the killings more visible. It was much more child friendly than necessary.

hi. i'm eric and this might be the 5th hunger games thread i've read.

now, to the topic, they did that because they wanted it to be aimed at the people who would be watching it eg. 12/13/14.

The movie was supposed to be rater R, so they had to tone down the violence to make it PG-13 because the book is a teen book. I do agree about the dogs having the dead tributes eyes....that is a big part in the book about why the dogs were so special, I also had a problem with the parade. She wasnt even wearing a dress! It was a rubber jumpsuit and it had a fake cape of flames.....very disappointed with Hollywood! I expected more from them

I did quite enjoy the film, but I thought the fact it was a teen novel was brought to light when there was a lack of emphasis on the background of 'The Hunger Games'; the film could definitely have played on how such games reflect on society and where we are going sociologically, but I feel its failure to do so and instead its focus on the action made the film a little less interesting. Still good to watch though, recommended.

I thought it was great, the only thing i did pick up on was a few things left out from the book and it was dulled down. Its funny you say about how they've cut out the gore, parents in my local area have been complaining about how damaging it is to their kids. It amused me, its a teen novel/book for a reason but even then its not as gory as it could've been :P

Let me preface this by saying I have never laid eyes on a HG book.

Now with that said, I really enjoyed the movie. A friend of mine was a fanatic about the books. She tried to get me to read the first one but our school Library didn't have the book, or better yet they only had 1 copy of each. She and I had talked about our favorite scenes and She said it was the cave for her, and to be honest I too favored it, but my response to her was that I liked it but my favorite part of the movie was when H said "You call that a kiss." To me the movie was great, better than some I've recently scene. BTW this girl is the one I plan on asking out this week or next. Wish LUCK
