Just watched it this afternoon. It was ok, but not a movie I would want to watch again.

pros:
-blood and gore
-Jennifer Lawrence is cute/hawt
-action.. funny(haymitch)

cons:
-wobbly cameraman
-Dragger. They introduce the other useless tributes, takes time :l

i would give it a 3 over 5

omgggzz she wuz so hawt!!
no, this was not the point of the film. what the heck, did you even get it? did you watch the movie well enough? did you read the books?

-action.. funny(haymitch)

what?

cons:
-wobbly cameraman
yes, the camera WAS wobbly, but that was in the district or in the woods, to show something more of a actiony part. not because they hired a bad camera dude. they did that for a reason.
-Dragger. They introduce the other useless tributes, takes time :l
well, first of all, they are very important, like cato. like rue? like thresh. like clove. they all have an impact on her. they really do, my friend.

i would give it a 3 over 5

did you read this book?

I havnt read the books <--- I have to admit that.

honestly, I think its pretty great.. I cried, I screamed, it made me happy, it made me angry.. basically it fucked with my emotions. It was cool...

My only issue with it is its like there is a hidden meaning behind it. At the start you think the people in the capital are discusting and the whole 'hunger games' is preety gross and inhumane. But during the movie it would be a lie to say you didnt get drawn in and entertained by the whole killing eachother thing. There was the people you supported and the people you wanted dead, you got upset when the little girl dies and you cheered katniss and the fella on when they killed the other guy. What I found afterwards is that it was entertaining then I felt slightly guilty. If you really think about it, watching it is exactly what the people in the capitol are doing... as a veiwer it makes you most relatable to one of the rich people in the capitol, the only differences are for us it isnt real.

I dont know if that makes any sense. But its just my thought on the movie

you have a great way of thinking. i never thought of it that way but the whole capital and the viewing of the hunger games and every aspect of both the movie and book have symbolism that the author wants you to look for

I agree. Since the whole concept of the movie is fighting for something/someone you love, and kids killing kids, why wasn't there that much fighting? Just my opinion. The camera pissed the shit out of me, and the script was kinda awkward. Maybe it was just the actors' portrayals.

I whole-heartedly agree. I hated the book, expected more out of the movie, got worse in return.

I read the books too, and I thought the movie was absolutely amazing and stayed pretty true to the story. But the book was better. they always are.

I didn't read the books, even though my sister has them I just wasn't expecting anything out of them. Wasn't even going to watch the film but there was nothing else on at the cinema so me any my friend went and I was pleasently suprised. It was really good, you could tell a lot of work had been put into it. Made me cry about 3 times, Jump literally out of my seat once (my friend was cracking up). The ending wasn't so good but hey, happy endings just arn't my thing. Though I might read the books now because I know the books are always so much better than the film and the 2 books after have different story lines and although they're pretty predictable endings I'll still give it a go.

:O :O :O :O :O I thought it was AMAZING! I know it misses quite alot from the book but tbh it was already over 2 hours if they had done more it would have been too long I think it was perfect.

Best film I have seen this year

It was ok. I know that movies are not usually as good as the books but was worse than I expected. Haymitch was hot :D

I didn't appreciate some of the things they left out but I got over it. I didn't have high expectations since most movies aren't as good as the book but they did really good with this. The choices for Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch all really pissed me off at first but they played their roles great! But the camera work was less than satisfactory...

**SPOILER ALERT!**

I liked this movie, actually.

But I haven't read the book; which is probably better.

I cried when Rue died.

First of all, I read the book and saw the movie. I enjoyed the movie but I would have liked for Katniss to like narrate scenes in the movie (since the book is from her pov) and I didn't see/feel much chemistry between Katniss and Peeta inthe movie like there was in the book and I wished they would have ended the mvie just like they did in the book (after Peeta and katniss win the Hunger Games and they're on the ship and Katniss is screaming cause of Peeta's injury and all that...allthe way til they stop before reaching District 12 and Katniss says she did it all for the games, etc.) Over all it was a pretty good movie, but obviously the book was waaayyy better. Soo, if you haven't read the book...DO IT!!

Gale didn't even do anything in the movie -.- well, almost.

I did like the film but it didn't live up to the book at all. One of my friends complained about how much the violence was toned down and I agree with him, I tend to like more violent films anyway but even so the plot is a lot of teenagers thrown together to kill each other I think it would have been better had the rating been increased to maybe a 15, well definitely not a 12a as then maybe it could have been truer to the book. But yeah it was still a good film, I'll buy it no doubt.

Everyone who "hated the movie" could you please explain? I'm honestly just curious as to what others found horrible about it, maybe I missed something because I thought the movie was excellent. Honestly, one of the best movie-book adaptations I've seen ever.

I thought that the Hunger Games movie was amazing! I have read the books and they were great too. But like all books that turn into movies, there are changes. But the changes were not bad. I would totally go see it again, plus Jennifer Lawrence is amazingly sexy. But I honestly like her as a brunette. And Josh Hutcherson, also one of my favorite actors, did a good job as Peeta. I have always been a Peeta fan! Can't wait for the next movie!

The movie wasnt violent enough and a narration by katniss would have made it better

honestly i thought it was too condensed. I felt like i barely connected with the characters at all. I've read the books so i think my expections being set very high also had something to do with me feeling let down.

It was entertaining, but not one of my favorites.

They took the whole connection with the characters out from the book. It wasn't a bad adaption from book to screenplay and technically speaking they did a great job.

I think from a moral side that story is a bit much to handle for younger viewers. I actually just did a whole college essay on that, lol.

My grandmother always told me that the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, no matter who made it. This usually is completely true. My grandmother was a wise woman :)

I was a really good movie! I read the 1st two books and theyre really good. I'm currently reading Mockingjay. I want to see the movie again and can't wait for Catching Fire. I am too a Peeta fan. Josh is a really good actor and so is Jennifer. Hopefully, Katniss stays with Peeta and not Gale.

read the book, went to the midnight showing, critiqued the whole thing (except when rue died, because i was too emotional to criticize), didn't like the movie, mainly because they downplayed the whole peeta/ katniss conflict. saw it again the next day and absolutely loved it. if you read the book the first time you see it your going to be very critical and just complain about it, i suggest anyone who didn't like it should see again

Really didn't like the movie. It was too... normal. Ordinary, nothing special.

Especially the entire plot. It's stupid and completely oblivious to our animal instinct.

Gary Ross, who directed Seabiscuit, manages to get this nag out of the starting gate and across the finish line with no major blunders, but without much in the way of inspiration, either.
