frozen means that a user is temporaly banned from the forums, they cannot post in the general forums, the only place they can post is in VT HQ (correct me if I am wrong).
This happens when a user has broken the rules or reached a certian number of infraction points.

^^ I believe it does not allow you to post at all. When I was frozen on GovTeen, I had no access to anything. It just showed a message saying why I was frozen and when It will be lifted.

Patrick is correct i think. When frozen you can't post at all on the forums until your freeze is over as far as i know.

I don't see many people being frozen these days, it's more or less bans. But it still happens from time to time.

Okay, I just read in that link posted above that they are allowed to post in VT HQ. but that is out dated so therefore It probably has changed.

Think of being frozen as a temporary ban.

There are two different kinds of freezes basically, there is the type where you either accumulate too many points/infractions or you are simply just frozen by a staff member. The reason you don't see many freezings compared to bans is mainly because if you've done enough to get frozen, chances are you've done enough to receive a ban.

Mike is correct, and also the freeze infraction is often used to keep bots or spammers or trolls frozen until they can be banned by an Admin or Global Mod.
Frozen means someone has accumulated 75 infraction points (100 being a ban). Each infraction has a different value of infraction points. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe if a member is straight frozen (such as a bot) the freeze lasts for 3 days, but normally they are banned by then. Otherwise the freeze lasts until the other infraction points expire.

And in regard to bots, I believe if enough regular mods give enough infractions, for say, being an overage member, they are automatically banned.

Rather than accumulating infractions for an overage member there is an infraction for it which is an automatic ban. For underage members it's worth 75 points and lasts for 12 months.
