A Spanish National Police investigation into two Madrid prostitution rings led to the rescue of a captive 19-year-old woman who was tattooed with a barcode on her wrist after she tried to escape the ring, authorities said Saturday.
The bar code served as a form of identity for the woman and as certificate of "ownership" by one prostitution ring, and beneath the bar code was also tattooed the amount of money she owed the ring, police said.
Held hostage by a pimp, the woman had multiple lesions from being beaten and whipped, and her head and eyebrows were shaven because she tried to flee, police said.

My opinion about this:
Gawd stupid people who cant get laid the usual way :L I mean get a life prostitutes. Why would you want to be rhaped, beaten up, and forced to pay money. Sigh. People these days. My heart goes out to all those women..

Some people think everything's good in the world because you don't hear about it but hearing things like that are still going on just makes me more aware and appreciative of the society I grew up in. This isn't actually that uncommon I don't think. I know in the UK there are a lot of people who are trafficked from third world countries and told of a better, more prosperous life in the UK. The reality is that the same people who tell them that are the people who will make them work for sex for very little pay, of course these people can't find work elsewhere since they're illegal immigrants. They're called massage parlours here and police crack down on them quite often. It happens everywhere, and it's terrible but there we are. I can't see any solutions in sight apart from tighter policing, which is what continues to happen over here.
