Well i bought it, I think its pretty good, it has a touch screen, double analog sticks, and a back touchscreen(which is cool)
Sound is pretty good too for a console
Its just the batt that sucks. If i play with lowest brightness, and sound at low, battery becomes low after about an hour and a half.
Is this normal for a new ps vita? Its a week old. Im worried :l help how do i reduce battery use?

Well, this is what to expect for such devices which will consume battery power. Personally, I think Sony went too over the top here. The PSVita is massive, and is mostly compared to the iPod touch. An iPod touch is better as it is much more easier to carry around and the interface of iOS is much nicer, but a PSVita is chunky and the interface is awful, why couldn't sony stick with the XMB like my original PSP Phat (1000) right next to me?
Anyway, to reduce battery life, turn off wireless, reduce screen brightness, reduce volume, play less on it and turn off fully when actually turning it off, NOT putting it in standby.

I haven't been able to try it, but it looks interesting. To somewhat avoid this problem, you can play it with the charger always plugged in -- yes, it kind of defeats the "portable" part -- but you can play it for longer times.

You cannot compare a gaming device with a media player*. They are completely different things.
* Yes, I know that you can play lots of games on an ipod, but the ipod was not originally conceived as a gaming device like the PSP was.

I'm not saying that I was comparing the two devices, but the majority of reviewers do, and they do point out some good arguments, and even when I went to google, a suggestion that came up was this. (https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=what%27s+better+ipod+touch+or+ps+vita&oq=ipod+touch+or+ps+v&aq=1ms&aqi=g1g-ms1&gs_l=hp.1.1.0j0i5i10.5097l7858l2l9186l21l21l2l3l3l0l208l1817l10j5j1l16l0.frgbld.&psj=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1366&bih=637)
I recently read this review here (http://www.maclife.com/article/features/ps_vita_versus_ios_which_one_better_mobile_gaming), and I think you should read it too.

I'm not sure this is a good idea. Because the PSVita has a non user-accessible battery, you cannot play with the charger without taking the battery out. If you left the battery in an played with it, while charging, eventually the battery life would decrease. And that would make his problem even worse. To optimize his battery life, he would have to wait until there was only a few % of battery left, and keep it charging until it reached 100% and THEN taking off the charger.

Do you believe everything you read online?

What you can do then is whenever you want to play, you plug it in; when finished, unplug it(and leave it on standby).

For now, yes. It's currently my only source for information regarding the PSVita.

This also happened to my 2nd generation iPod Touch, until the battery became dead and simply would not charge.
