View Full Version : War on Terror and Media Involvement

My question to the VT community is simple: How do you feel about the way the media reports on the current War on Terror?
My opinion: All news stations do NOT report on the actual topics. They change it to sound good to civilians, and forget the important details. I also feel that they report on unimportant things, such as the First Lady eating at a fast food joint, rather than report on the soldiers we have lost in this war..
My hope is that this can remain unbiased, but... It never happens so. Thanks for reading, and posting your ideas

There is no war on terror. It was made up by the national government to justify useless wars and spend taxpayer money on trips to exotic places. The only good to come of it was the killing of Bin Laden.

I have to disagree with you.. The United States did have reasons for invading Iraq (the first time)... First, we went in because the leader was basically killing his own people.
We went in the second time because we knew both Iraq, and Afghanistan were harboring terrorists. We wanted to both find their attack plans, as well as find commanders/leaders. Now, I would agree that we have been there a bit long, but we did promise that we would reconstruct what we fucked up..

And you are only just realizing this?

The media pretty much only reports from the American side of the issue and ignores the other side and all of the events that led up to these ridiculous wars.
If there was unbiased reporting 40 years ago then we might not even be in this situation.

The news is made to be confusing, it's all manufactured.

This. All we did was kill Bin Laden and Hussain, and that could have been done without wars in the Middle East like it was.

That too, you can't really ever hear the other side.

Well, we technically didn't kill Hussein. We simply found him and turned him over to Iraq, which was a big fuck up because he more than likely had valuable intel.

Bin Laden probably did too, but even though we could get a SEAL team right into his house, we couldn't get him out alive.
