Imagine life without food. Without cheeseburgers, without pizza, without your favorite chow. Then imagine that even smelling food would kill you. You'd be placing yourself in the shoes of this 9 year old boy.
Joshua, a 9 year old with a rare disease known as "eosinophilic esophagitis", is allergic to almost all foods. He can't eat it, can't taste it. He can't even smell it, as that can kill him. His allergy to food can most likely cause him sever pain, and can also kill him.
Joshua is fed by a tube inserted into his stomach, where he gets most of his nutrients through a formula prescribed by his doctor. Joshua is also homeschooled, and is forced to live life extremely cautiously.
Mom Cara says that there is not a moment when she isn't afraid for her son's life.

My opinion to this:
Poor, poor, poor boy. I simply cannot imagine life without food. I think that now, I should be thankful for what i eat, even if i don't like it. There are others who suffer more..

I don't see the happiness in living like that knowing that at any given second the slightest aroma of any sort of food could end your life. Imagine the stress on the family knowing that getting too close or probably failing to brush their teeth could kill their brother. If I were in the kids shoes I'd probably ask to not stick around unless they could cure it, but if he's happy and the family makes it work, that's incredible and awesome for them.

That must be crazy walking through a street and just smelling it can kill him. The paranoia and the fear in him and the family. This kid is gonna live a messed up life. I honestly hope for the best for him and his family because something like this can have so much stress and pressure on them.

I've seen this before which is weird because I was thinking about it yesterday as well. It is so sad and I think he tried some chocolate because he felt left out and wanted to be like the other kids and he was in bed for ages trying not to die.
I wish him and his family well because that must be one hell of a life they've got.

All I can think of is how easy it would be for that boy to kill himself accidentally.
Poor kid, that's going to be a short and unhappy life.

Read that earlier and share the same thoughts that my grandmother had. If I would be like that my entire life, I'd just go into the kitchen, eat a chocolate cake, and end it. Painful, sure, but at least I'd die having tasted food.
I have no idea about treatment for this disease, but if it is incurable I'd imagine there will be many suicide attempts in his future. If it's a really rare disease, I doubt there would be much funding on curing it, but you never know.
Poor kid.

I've heard of situations like this before, but this is quite a serious one. Poor kid, I hope he lives as long as possible.

I feel sad for him. It's a good thing he can have lovely baby food, but I couldn't imagine my life without food. What makes the baby food so special anyways? We take food for granted.

Burgers aren't even that nice, I don't know why americans are so obsessed with them. I prefer chicken or sausage meat in my burgers, but not beef.

I couldn't imagine a life like that.
I love food, trying it, cooking it, indulging in it. I just couldn't imagine what this family has to deal with. It makes me feel a little guilty.

This is so sad. I don't know if I could live in the same situation as this boy.
I feel so sorry for him.

Just kill him already and save him the pain or torture he will have to go through...

That is so sad! Poor kid... I love food. I would be so upset if I developed a food allergy...
