Could fail swimming unit because I don't know how to swim

Well, I basically described my whole thread. I've been docked 30 participation points that are not recoverable because I simply do not know how to swim. Yeah, I've "participated" by getting into the water, but I have NEVER taken any swimming classes in my life to learn the proper way to swim. I'm being docked the participation points because I'm not doing anything. Well, I can't do much because I don't know how to swim, lol. My mom came to the school the first day of the unit and personally hand delivered a note describing why I can't participate in the swimming unit. My teacher has not honored that and I'll be tested next class on all of the strokes. Since I cannot swim, I'm going to fail it. Is there anything on my part I can do about it?

You could but then wouldn't you lose marks anyway?

Could you get your mum to go back into school and complain about it? I mean you don't know how to swim then they really can't force you, it's health and safety. What would losing the points do because I don't have them, would it affect your overall grade/score or whatever in a big way?

If the teacher won't honor the note, have your mom complain to the principal that you are being tested over something you weren't taught.

That doesn't seem right. Especially since your mom hand delivered a note to the teacher explaining your situation. They should make some sort of allowance or accommodation for those types of situations. Have an alternative activity that can be performed.

But I must ask, if you don't know how to swim, how come you enrolled in the class? Do you even like swimming?
