Is Linux Mint hard to use?

It's as easy as anything else. You know how to use Ubuntu, then you are bound to know how to use this.

On my comp, I have the 11th version, and Lxde as the desktop environment. It's fast and simple, this one.

I have never used Ubuntu either :O... But I guess it can't be that hard.

Get Kde environment. It's the closest thing to Windoz.

I forget to mention. There is one thing that I hate about it.

The google search site will look customised. That's the only complaint. And there is no easy way to remove.

Supposedly, it gives revenue to the developer.

I am only getting Mint because it is what my teacher wants me to use for assessment. We're learning to dual boot a desktop PC with XP and Linux Mint.

Are there any other versions that you'd suggest would be good for someone with no experience for when I do my own PC?

If you ask the techies here, they'd suggest OpenSuse.

I tried Fedora. But it's not suitable for beginners. Same goes for ArchLinux, I believe.

I want to try lightweight distros, like crunch bang and slitaz.

I will see into media creation based distro later on.

I couldn't get linux mint on the school machine (hardware failure), but I put it on my Desktop, and I rather like it. Only thing is, do I need anti virus?

You don't. Linux viruses are quite rare. And almost all of windoz viruses will not be able to attack your system.

Btw, which environment you got?

Linux is the best OS but it doesn't work with a lot of different programs and is kinda difficult for some to use. At least a system using it (just like Mac's) almost never get any virus'
