Hi, I have this problem when I shave my armpits. You see, a day after I shave them I get these red dots, rash, whatever under my arms and it won't go away for three to four days. Because of it I can't shave as often as I want and it looks really ugly. I go a week without shaving and that's not really nice since I've got relatively thick hairs and since summer's near. I already wear short sleeves and am not comfortable with raising my arms. Do you know why this happens, is this razor burn? I heard smth about it, or something else? What can I do to stop it? And yeah, I don't use any shaving cream or anything like that, I just use my razor in the shower, could that be it? And I usually sweat a little more than an average person does and I put on deodorant two times a day, maybe this irritates the skin? Thanks for any help you can give.

This is razor burn, yes. Typically this happens because the razor itself can pull at the hairs and irritate the skin. The fact that you're not using shaving cream is probably why this is happening. Shaving cream adds more moisture to your skin and makes it far more comfortable to shave. Using it may actually solve this problem. Also, some women's razors come with little strips built onto the blade that provide even more moisturizer for your skin.

Rather than using deodorant, try an antiperspirant. This helps with the sweating as well as body odors and doesn't have to be applied more than once usually. Also, putting deodorant on right after shaving can irritate the skin especially if you were just using the razor straight on it in the shower. Once this goes away again, try shaving the night before with some shaving cream, applying some deodorant/antiperspirant as usual in the morning and see what happens.

It also could be caused by rubbing fabrics on sweaty skin which sometimes causes a rash. This usually happens more with polyester blends than shirts made with mostly cotton.

I went through all this when I was younger so it's totally normal. :)

Thank you a lot, I'm gonna try the shaving cream this night, I hope it works, I haven't shaved in a week lol. As far as deodorant is concerned, it doesn't really irritate me like some others did, antiperspirants among them. I don't like antiperspirants that much, they leave white marks all over me and my clothes. And i don't sweat that much, I don't smell, I don't care if I get some wet marks on my clothes. But does it make a difference if it's roll on or spray?Cause I use roll on.

I shaved yesterday evening with shaving cream and , while I still got a little razor burn, it was nothing compared to what I used to get. I'm so happy now I'm gonna shave every day xD. Thanks so much for the help :)
