Alright, I've got a rather large nasty cut on my leg from a bit of an accident. Its on the part of my leg that stretches when I go to do strenuousness movements. This morning I was working on the farm and was moving hay bales around, i stretched and the cut split. Its a recurrent thing and its doing it so often its not had time to heal over. Not working isn't really an option so i can't really stop that but does anyone have any tips i can use to stop it happening as much to give it time to heal? Its not big or deep enough to require stitches so this is out of the question and i'm also keeping it clean and wrapped up but its just not doing the trick.

First off, dear Aaron, what the hell did you do to get a gash across your leg? Start being more safe!!!

If you don't want to go get stitches, which you should do, try and keep it closed with medical tape. If that is not findable, use regular tape. Do not just tape right over the open wound. When going to work, put something over the wound like gauze. Tape over that, and make sure it's tight enough to keep it from tearing open.

Alright, thank you. I've got it bandaged and i'm changing it at least twice a day and putting antiseptic on it but yeah, it doesn't seem to stop it splitting open. I've had my mum take a look at it and shes said the same thing its probably not deep enough for stitches its literally just how awkwardly its positioned, i so much as stretch and its open again. -.-

I totally agree...also, try using an ointment to put on it, one to help heal such as Neosporin, I suggest the OINTMENT part is because the thicker ointment will help to keep it semi moist, keeping the scab moist will give it some flexibility and might make it less likely to tear back open.

I do not want to sound rude at all and please forgive me for what i am about to say...

If your mother is not in a profession that deals with stitches (seamstress are exempt) then don't listen, get a valid opinion, please...

She's an ex nurse/doctors assistant she knows quite a lot about it :P
But yeah i've got all the creams and stuff and im doing it regularly. Im just a bit worried about it due to the fact most of my work is around an easily infectious area. Thank you :)

Okay, cool, that is why i was apologizing all over myself before I typed it...didn't know...:P

Ummm, also, butterfly Band-Aids might help, on top of the ointment and then have an ACE wrap placed over top and around...hope you get better... :D
