Ummm so i have absolutely no idea where to put this so it shall go here. And if a mod doesn't agree it shall be moved.

I was wondering why it is illegal in most states to have multiple wives. The choice to have more than one wife (or husband) is to be decided by you and the others involved.

You wanting more than one legal partner does not in any way harm society. And the way i see it, it is not the government's right or business to be dictating on how you live your life in the way of marriage.

Also if it is legal to date two people at the same time why is it a huge problem when they get married?

*DISCLAIMER* I personally would be happily content with one partner.

Yes, Polygamy. And it is wrong in most cases. Many religions only allow one wife, (besides Islam and maybe more), and that is just the standard for the United States.

It's not fair to either of the wives that have to deal with each other. Think about getting cheated on. It's similar to that feeling I would imagine.

I don't personally understand polygamy but to clear up, it isn't just having more than one wife. That's just Islamic law. Actual polygamy states you're allowed to have more than one husband and same applies to females.

Woah... Imagine all the attention conflicts... What sane man would want to have multiple wives? Need I expound further?

Polygamy is mainly outlawed because of the additional burden the state would have to take on in order to accommodate it and the kinds of benefits gained from marriage would seriously influence tax revenue in a negative (according to the government) fashion. Basically it would mean more money going out and less money coming in.

A pretty good, thorough analysis of a Western court on why polygamy is illegal. Food for thought.

i think it's ok. i mean, if gays can get married to each other, i see no issue with p[eople marrying whoever they want.

i tried really hard not to sound rude against any sexualities. plase don't take it taht way.
