I swear I'm going to go on April 14th instead, just cause if I'm going to suffer through a 3D film, might as well do it right.
I had a huge obsession with the history and the film when I was a child. I read every book in the library about the ship, watched that film and others countless times, including the old one and that documentary Ghosts of the Abyss. And finally my uncle got it for me on DVD one Christmas when the special edition came out as my VHS box was getting pretty beat up. And that's a bulky film when you have it on VHS, the two tapes and all. Even the DVD set as three discs, and the film is on two of them. XD
I have this weird idea that's the roots of my redhead obsession, I watched Titanic practically every night for a year as a child.
So yeah, of course I'm seeing it. I've avoided liking most of the romance films but since Titanic was a huge part of my childhood obsessions it's hard not to hear Never An Absolution or Hymn to the Sea without stopping to listen (not so much My Heart Will Go On, I'm not a Celine Dion fan, but the score is absolutely gorgeous). And I reluctantly decided to see it in 3D. 3D films don't make me nausious or anything, I just don't like them. But it shouldn't be bad, considering it wasn't made for 3D. Like when they did The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D, that was actually nice. But when I watch something made with 3D in mind, I hate it so much.

I can't think of anything that I see on a screen these days without thinking how much better it'd look in 3-D! If I see a movie I really like...Like, I'm watching King Kong (2005) I think, "Man! That'd be great in 3-D!" Everything's better in 3-D! Everything! A scene in the snow with two people talking...in 3-D...It's amazing! You're in the snow! You feel the snow.

Coming up with ways to keep on topic, I thought of how awesome it would be to make Titanic a cult film like Rocky Horror and do shit like in the Rocky Horror showings. For instance, throw ice water on people's heads when they go under. And get a huge fan for the I'm Flying scene.
Anyone ever find it ironic that she says she'll never let go and then she lets him fall to the bottom of the Atlantic? I know it's metaphorical but it's funny when you think about it. (Inspiration from this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6LcXJQDhds) lol. "Kate Winslet you bitch!" XD)

So wait, are they just making the original film stereoscopic? If yes then this movie can politely fuck off. Really. That's just a big load of crap, and a way of making money.
Otherwise, if they really have redone the whole film AND made it 3D, then I honestly cannot wait. I just looked at the trailer, but it does seem an awful lot similar/identical to the 1997 one.

^ There are three different showings, 2D, real 3D, and IMAX 3D.
My main reason for seeing it in 3D is just for the hell of it. I can watch it in 2D at home.
I don't think I've watched it for years though. :/
Another part is to honour my childhood. *shrug*
I actually prefer old films being made into 3D. Anyone seen Spy Kids 3D? Or Shark Boy and Lava Girl? Or even Alice In Wonderland (I think it was the hat part...)? Films that were all made with 3D in mind. Cheesy, cheesy shit. I've only seen one 3D film I liked, and that was the 2006 Nightmare Before Christmas showing, it was absolutely fucking amazing. It looked almost as if it were a live puppet show, with the backdrops looking as if they actually had depth to them. Instead of shit popping out at you. I'm hoping this will be the same, just enough to give it a little something interesting.
I actually may go twice, now that I'm thinking about it. Just so I can have both, you know. In case the 3D is stupid.

When I tried watching Titanic for the first time, I was waiting earnestly for Jack to die. When I tried watching it for the second time, I slept after 15 mins. When I tried watching it for the third time, it gave me massive puberty-related problems. Why did I try watching it for 3 times? Because my mother loves it and she likes to watch it during 'family' time when we're all in the kitchen.

I actually hate 3D. The only reason I'm seeing it in 3D is because it's being offered. I'd see it if it was just a rerelease. The point to me is seeing it in the cinema, as that's an experience I wish I could have had if I wasn't five at the time. I don't like watching films on TVs because it doesn't have the same feeling. You get so immersed in the film in the cinemas. Nowadays I rarely see a film much after it leaves, unless it's amazing. And even then, I watch it on my computer.
And it's 100 years. That's a big milestone. Very lucrative opportunity lol. As a child I used to stay up every year and watch it on the anniversary. Strange child, I know. Of course, I haven't done that for ten years. But I feel like doing it this time would be very nostalgic for me, and I am a huge nostalgia junkie.
And, like I said, it's been ages since I've seen it, for a film I love so much. A good five years at the least.

Titanic 3D is easily the best example of post-conversion 3D to date. It might lack some of the creative synergy that could have been explored had the film actually been shot with 3D in mind (15 years ago) and it’s likely that some viewers, looking for non-stop 3D eye candy, could be underwhelmed by the film’s subtle effect. However, with plenty already going for it and a fresh polish from the pre-3D remastering, the post-conversion in Titanic 3D successfully enhances an already sharp big screen experience.
