The experience you have outlined above seems to be that of a psychotic episode. The paranoia indicates it could be schizophrenia, though it may not be.

Sophie, I urge you very strongly to see a doctor about this. We can help with suggestions as to what you could be experiencing and try to help you through it, but only a doctor can pinpoint these things.

I would like to see this thread moved as I feel that what Sophie has is Munchausen Syndrome.

Trebor, you can not prove or disprove her experiences. It may be a possible diagnosis but people are often very different over the internet and this attention seeking behaviour may just be confined to online interactions.

Either way she has been given advice and can choose to follow it or not.

THankyou again

Don't worry, you didn't offend anyone Sophie.
But take my earlier advice and seek help. Hearing things and believing what you seem to believe about them may result in you hurting yourself in some way and that is not something any of us want to happen.

The experiences she described are not simmillar to any of the cases of Schizophrenia I have ever encountered and unless Sophie is really being contacted by Aliens she most likely has Munchausen Syndrome. As she claims to have committed self harm I am worried that this may manifest itself into something more serious such as suicide or harming others. However, regardless of what my diagnosis is, I would suggest she see a doctor, physical or otherwise.

Now, secondly, I was not trying to disprove that these events did actually happen, I was merely stating that I felt them to be more closely related to Munchausen Syndrome then Schizophrenia.

Oh, an congrats on the Mod SHip.

Just ask her if you changed from the time you were a baby to the time you were six, and then insist that change is normal, especially in teenagers.
