Do you consider music to be art, or a form of it?
I personally think it is.

Of course music is art. Music is both creative and expressive, it helps not only the creator but also the listener.

Music is definitely art, not visual, yet audible performing art. It can be used to express emotion etc, as is many forms of visual art.

what the actual fucking fuck? I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't think music is art. It takes just as much creativity as any other art form; it expresses emotions and ideas, why the fuck wouldn't it be art?

Obviously music is art. You can't just pick up an instrument and be the next big thing. Same with painting.
Art doesn't have to be something you look at. It can be something you smell, look, listen, and eat.
Art is all around you, regardless if you realize it.
Even the creation of a comment is an art.

Music is definitely art, not visual
Music performances are visual and music which is art too. Music videos, music installations, et al. Ryoji Ikeda's a great example, where his music actually controlled the footage that was being played which goes into the glitch art category.

Who said all art had to be visual? There are "visual" and "performing" arts.

Quote my whole post. Yes but music is audible sound or speech performed creatively! Everything you've mentioned isn't music, but related to music. Music videos aren't music! As Mike said, art doesn't have to be visual, it can be visual or performing arts.

I don't see how anybody could consider music, as a whole, not art. I mean, the definition of "music" is that it's... an art form (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/music?s=t). Even though art is subjective, there's not really any way to consider what "art" is without including the realm of sound, and the things that can be expressed through that.
Now, there are those people who dismiss certain genres of music, like hip-hop or rock, as not being art, but that's an entirely different issue.

I don't see how anyone can disagree with this. Music is an art, and is a form of expression. Case closed.

Is this even a serious question? Music is definitely art! Any composer, musician or general music lover can tell you that!

Yes, music is art. Is painting art? Yes, so is music.

Yes, I do believe so. I precieve art to be something that takes times, and comes appreciated when finalized. A musician myself, I am fully aware of the difficulties that come when writing music, and I personally prefer my work, if I feel it is worthy, to be appreciated.

Yes music is art. Its a form of expression that comes from the soul, mind and heart of a person.

Art is left to the eye of the beholder. It varies from person to person.

There really isn't a debate going here.
This is just filled with simple "Yes" or "No" answers.
Since there's nothing going on....
