Uuuuuuuuuuuuughhhhhh..... Dad! 500 dollars is NOT going to ruin my forsaken financial future! Jesus!
---------
I need a new computer. My current one is just too out of date, and I think a Mac would be a nice route, since I can find refurbished ones for relatively cheap on e-bay.
I find this really nice, maxed out MacBook, faster than my current PC, for only 500 dollars. I know for a fact that I can afford it, because my great grandmother alone gave me 600 when she died, plus another 100 I earned myself.
My dad refuses to buy me it, even though he knows I need a new computer, because he thinks I will be financially, horribly off.
God Damn dad, I need a new computer!!!!!!!

Do you guys agree with him? Can you think of any ways to convince him to buy me it? (I mean, my birthday is coming up. come on dad :c)

Thanks

He probably doesn't want you to spend your grandmas inheritance so quickly. I mean, you might be pleasantly surprised on your birthday :)

OR try finding a temporary job to earn the money yourself.

OR invest you inheritance in SATRIX Top 40 (google it) and use the returns to pay for some of the cost. This may take too long I suppose, but not a bad idea for long-term ideas.

Maybe also show your dad that your current pc is more expensive in the long run because of on-going repair costs (if this is the case). Hope this helps and good luck!

That's quite a large chunk of your inheritance that you'd be spending, $500 isn't peanuts. your current pc is more expensive...repair costs I agree, if you really need the computer that much, use that excuse.

Sure, it won't forsaken your financial future, but it's not really a great investment, unless you intend to consistently and exclusively use it for the purpose of profitable, professional business. Sorry for my douchebagieness, but if there was a side to be taken I'd be on your dad's.

And how out of date is it really? I hope you aren't one of those people who find something from five years ago so horribly old and out-of-fashion (I have a Win'95 PC that I use to date, no problems, I have a radio scanner from 1968 that also works with no problems), or even worse, something like you must have the latest iPad 3 because the iPad or iPad 2 isn't good enough.
