I have two pretty bad cigarette burns on my arm... I caught one of them with my nail and I think it may have become infected.
What do I do? :/ Also is there any way I can prevent is scarring as much?

You can try neosporin (or a like product? Not sure if they have that in the UK, haha.)
If i t hurts you can try asprin or something possibly to reduce pain.
However, I know you know this, Kathy, but you really should see a doctor.
But yeah, Neosporin/painkillers would work I think.

Yeah i've been putting antispetic cream on it.
I'm fine with the pain.
I'm going to see how it goes and I should be going to the doctors soon anyway so if it's still looking weird then i'll ask.
Thanks for your reply Val :)

It depends largely on the degree of the burn. If your skin is just red it's easy to treat with aloe vera and should really reduce scarring, almost making it invisible if done well. It your skin blistered and you have a 2nd degree burn, polysporin is the best bet. Don't pop the blister if you haven't already.

Hi Kathy
I would really suggest showing it to a doctor - they will not force you to go any further, even if they suspect you have hurt yourself. If you just mask the pain you may be missing a more serious problem below!
Take care and let us know how you get on!

All the burns blistered and now 2 have gone red and one had remained white.
I'll just go to the doctor. My parents and my doctor already know about my self harm anyway.

Do you need me to cut it off? jk :P
I'm pretty sure there's also a special type of band-aid that you can get for burns. Otherwise than that, just keep it cool and put the cream on it, go to the doctors to make sure you don't need to cut it-I mean to make sure it's not infected.

Wash it thoroughly and keep using antisceptic cream. If the condition worsens, seek further medical advice. As for reducing scarring, you can get special plasters designed to do that=ask in your chemist :)
