I think you have to get to a certain amount of posts before your pics no longer have to be approved.

All the pictures that I take with my camera, but they are all way over 5 MB each :P

Just compress them, we aren't Flikr.
If you want, just leave a link in your sig to a Flikr or Photobucket or something of that sort so you can upload them at full resolution.

As long as it doesn't contain any kind of personal info you can't give out here, you're fine.
