I'm 14 and never had a girlfriend.

I feel left out because I see lovebirds on campus showing their love ()
What age do people usually start dating for the first time?

First of all, don't worry. I'm a forever alone too and there is someone for you. Most people start casually dating in 8th grade, but honestly none of that's serious. It starts getting proper when you're in late 9th/early 10th grade, from my observations.
Remember, there are other perpetually single people out there!

Everyone starts at different times. I had friends who were dating in 7th grade, but then i also have friends who have never dated anybody yet. Don't worry about it, you've got time :P

I also thought I was a forever alone too because I was nearing 17 and had no girlfriend so far. But all changed in January.

Well I now have a girlfriend and we both really love each other.
Half of this thing is luck, the other half is good timing. Don't get panicked, you are only 14. You'll find someone soon enough.

people start dating when they find the right person.
don't worry, there is someone out there for you. just believe in that person and don't give up on yourself.

Know how you feel man! As others have said, people start dating at different times. I know though, it just stinks at times for me seeing others being happy. The best way I have found to combat that feeling is to prepare yourself to see it. Prepare by just knowing that you are going to see it, or if it is one individual "couple," prepare yourself to see them together and know that you are going to be ok. You can also try avoiding it to a degree-example: my first period has these two that sit right next to me (the girl picked him over me, but that's another story), since it is a computer class, I listen to an audiobook or music most days to keep my emotions in check enough to get my work done.

Don't worry man. I'm 19 and have never had a real girlfriend. There's been girls I've dated because I felt pressured not to tell them no though...

You have a lot of time. I'm 17 and never had a girlfriend. One girl liked me in 3rd through 6th grade and I didn't pay attention to her simply because I was an idiot and I had no common sense. You're okay bro. Don't worry.

Is it not better to wait for one who you love and loves you back, than to be in a relationship "because everybody else is"? I knew people in the 5th grade who were going out with others, and I'm sure at the time it seemed like everybody was, but with time, you'll realize it's not a relationship you want, it's to have somebody to love, and you can handle the wait if that's what you'll get.

^ I agree. So many people go out with people for the sake of going out, instead of just waiting for the right person. Now, the right person when you're 14 will probably be a different person by the time you're 20, but they'll be the right person at the moment.

All in time, my good chap. Everyone starts at different times. My brother didn't have a girlfriend until he was almost 18 and he got along quite well in life. Dating, while it may seem exciting, is not anything that needs to be rushed into. You have plenty of time to get into that scene. Take this time to develop yourself and your identity before you bring someone else into the picture with an intimate relationship.

Dating isn't ever serious until you get into high school Seeing as you're 14 you're right on time lol Freshman-sophomore year are when most people start dating seriously.

I know how you feel. Just look at it, you got the rest of high school and college. You will get there someday.

I've had my first girlfriend at 21. We've been together for 6 months now and it's been amazing. We understand each other completely, and we make each other very happy. She's both my girlfriend and my best friend, my lover and my confident. I've never been happier in my life.

Quality over quantity.

What really is normal? It's like chemistry; many things have to be in perfect synchrony for a reaction to take place. Don't rush it. Enjoy the single life.
