I'm new to the VirtualTeen Forums. I've been cutting for a few months. Nobody understands why I cut. I'm depressed. Nobody understands why I'm sad. I don't want to cut, but I don't know how else to let people know that I'm not happy.

I know how you feel. My friend cuts and i used to. it was hard to stop but after somebody threatened to tell an adult, it got in my head why am i doing this? yes im depressed but i dont need to do this to my body. I realized that and threw away all my utensils i used for cutting and it got better from there. I just hope this will help you stop cutting and be happier

It sounds really corny and cliché but I actually went to a trusted adult at school and basically poured my heart out to her. Ms. Kingsley made me actually feel real and made me realize that cutting is not the answer. You should try it.

Cutting is just another way of coping. When you think about it, it causes a lot less long-term damage than drinking or smoking, except people don't understand that.
If you want to let people know you're not happy, tell your parents you're having early-waking insomnia, which is a common symptom of depression. When you go to the doctor (alone) you can tell them.

That's a good idea. If you tell them about how you're not sleeping well then it will most likely result in them finding out that you're not well. Going to the doctors can help and at least it will be telling someone
