Thirteen

Have any of you seen the movie thirteen? It is about a girl who goes from mammas little girl to big time bitch, and she starts on drugs, smoking, sluttiness, and being a bitch to her mom.

Ja I saw it quite a while ago. Very melodramatic and trashy but anyway..

I actually really like it. I think it's one of the more honest films about this sort of thing. There's no resolve like we're taught with films and stories and all that. I mean, it sort of gets a little better, but nothing's back to normal or better. Rising action, climax, falling action, resolution. Life doesn't really work like that. I like how.. dysfunctional it is, cause that's what life is like. And that's, sadly, what it's like to be a teenager for many kids in this day and age. That film is pretty much my teen years to a tee. Nikki Reed helped write it and she was fifteen or so at the time, so that helps.

On a lesser note, I don't actually love watching it because Evan Rachel Wood was so young there and it makes me feel like a paedophile for liking her.

I find it sort of comical due to its melodrama. It's not at all that realistic or true to life. Normally, I wouldn't say that's an issue, but the whole point of movies like Thirteen is that it's real, that the average teenager can relate. It's been a while since I saw it, but as I recall the acting isn't great and the writing is even worse.

tl;dr: My sister and I watch it for giggles, not tears.
