As a form of punishment and or time to review said persons case.

For example you do something seriously wrong at school so you might get temporarly excluded from school say for 7 days, as form of punishment, its like the same.

Sometimes they may be temp bannded, while they review the persons crime and then they will decide if they wish that said member to stay on the forum.

Overall its a form of punishment.
