A Friend is just so annoying!

Aghh! Let me tell you about my friend.. Who for arguments sake.. we will call Bob.

Me and bob used to be quite distant friends. We knew each other, we talked, we went to badminton but we didn't ever see each other out of school. One day, I was talking about Flight of the Concords, he just happened to be there and I started talking to him about that. He started to want to sit next to me in science, because we also share a passion for science. However, this is when he started to get annoying.

we are in GCSE's right now, and I want to get good grades. But bob always talks! I try to ignore him but he just carries on. And there's more, he always expects me to go with him when we do practicals. I had been going with him nearly every practical, when I decide to go with one of my other friends. Then he accuses me of leaving him, and that I dont like him anymore.

Also, nearly every weekend he calls and asks to go bowling. I hate bowling. Last weekend, I went swimming with someone when he called. He called me a deserter and messaged me "sometimes I really get pissed off with you" as if it was my fault that I wanted to spend time with some of my other friends. Even at break today, I was talking with some of my older friends and he was just waving at me to tell me to come speak with him.... yet again he accused me of leaving him.

Finally, Badminton. When there was a play on, bob was playing the piano so he couldn't come to badminton. It was the best few weeks of badminton I have ever had. Bob is just too competitive, he can never admit he is wrong. He doesn't care about the sport, the friendship or the relaxed attitude we all want. All he cares about is winning.

What do you think I should do? I tried Partially ignoring him today but he just wont have it. Should I just ignore him more?

But anyway, it sounds like you need to explain to this guy what you just told us. Plain and simple. I mean he can't expect you to hang around him ALL the time- that's not gangsta. seriously.

He clearly has insecurity issues as well (hence the overly competitive behaviour) and so I don't think any amount of ignoring is going to help either of you. He needs help.

So just sit with him and get this off your chest. Life's too short for this bull-shit.

You need to have a serious talk with him and tell him, look..I have other friends that I want to hang out with as well, you can't always have my attention 24/7. In this case ignoring him doesn't work so like I said its time to talk to him and also tell him he really needs to stopping playing the deserting me crap, cause if he keeps it up deserting him might not be too bad, and if he choses to not listen then well the choice is yous, remain hs friend or leave him

I had a friend I wanted to get rid of since early Elementary. My reasons for cutting him out of my life were plain and reasonable. All those years I lasted not saying anything became worse. I'd say the same thing to my self and when ever I'd vent to my other friends about him "But if I tell him I don't wanna be friends it'll be akward to be around. I found the guts to tell him what I wanted to say and he took it suprisingly well. I didn't make it sound too harsh either since he was a nice kid. Just annoying. When I see him in school now, no akwardness at all. The reason I'm saying all this is to show you how it might come out to be with your friend. Just like these guys said up there. Tell him the whole truth and if you don't wanna be friends, tell him the reasons why. You can be like "Look. You're a good friend and everything but I can't be friends with you anymore. You tend to be clingy and you assume of me ditching you sometimes, but I have other friends I hang out with here and there." Something around those lines. And if you end up telling him how you feel, you can ask your teacher to change your seat and tell them that you don't feel comfortable around there or you can't see from where you're sitting. Well, I think this might of got him off my back a bit...

Bob is a science geek. So today, I said to him "Do you think we are using the telescopes?" whilst pointing at microscopes. He got angry and started throwing stationary at me. Then people said stuff like, "I was looking at some bacteria with my telescope the other day." and "have you heard of that new microscope which can look at nebulaes, Its really cheap." ect.

Wow that's tough, aye you should just ignore him more. The him the silent treatment, although very childish in the case I think it's called for get in his mind set huh? You could try being blunt and honest with him but judging from that conversation he wouldnt listen and just make fun. Spend more time around other friends and that might help him get the picture.

That seems like a tough situation.

Tell him that you want to be his friend, but you feel like he is too clingy. Tell him that you have other friends as well, and if he wants to hang with you, he has to give you some space.
