You Can't Escape
Someday I'll venture off into the city,
Away from this sleepy farmtown and feilds of hay.
Someday I'll watch the bright lights gleam off my hair,
Someday I'll leave this place, but not today.
Someday I'll swim the oceans of Hawaii,
And I won't be wading out to fetch water from the bay.
Someday I'll see the coral and the angelfish,
Someday I'll leave this place, but not today.
Someday I'll climb a boulder in the canyons,
And not be picking wildflowers on the hills in May.
Someday I'll sling my harness round my shoulders,
Someday I'll leave this place, but not today.
And now I sit, eyes gleaming at the onlookers,
An axe perched suspensefully above my nape.
Someday I'll venture out of this sleepy old town,
But this is the last time I'll try to escape.
My bipolar side
I have a neighbor
He lives inside of me
And when he rears his ugly head
You better turn and flee
My neighbor ain't the friendly type
He never stops to talk
And when you tell my neighbor to run
He makes sure to always walk
If tradgedy comes his way you bet
He'll be happy for a while
And when you cry and when you fret
He'll put on a jolly smile
And when you compliment his hair
He'll wail and scream and cry
And when you greet him upon his front stair
He'll always wonder why
When you tell my neighbor to follow the laws
He never will abide
I am the good and happy one
And my neighbor is my lonely side.
