Possibly, depending on how deep the cut is. Is it deep?

Just enough to get some blood out of it.

Hmm. Well if you wash it out with alcohol or good soap then you should be okay. But if you notice that its itching, or turning a weird color then maybe you should go see a doctor

Yes, it can be a problem, as copper is a metal that can corrode and you may get Tetanus from the bacteria. Best is to wash the wound out and tell your parents. Tell them you want to go to the doc and get checked out - you don't want to take a risk with Tetanus. Once you get it, it's a long recovery (approx 4 months)

If you're feeling weird, and your muscles are locking up with no particular reason within the next 20 days, tell your mom or dad to get you to the doc immediately, as this is Generalized Tetanus.

Whatever the case or whatever it may be, before it gets infected or something weird happens, go see a doc.

Thanks for the info, but I found it was dirty. Maybe some old dust or somthing or something on it? Still a problem or what?

You still want to clean it, and if the copper had any signs of corrosion, take my above advice. But if you're pretty sure the copper was clean and there was no rust/corrosion on it, you're most likely safe.

Sadly, I can't tell if it's corroded or not. And my dad isn't being of a fucking help since he's pissed off about me worrying about it that he won't give me a fucking answer.

Brush off the copper with some feathers or a dry washcloth. if there's any weird lumps and it's not smooth or if it's a bit discolored, it's a sign of corrosion. Here's a picture of rust (rust is a type of corrosion) on iron/steel:

Here's a rusty, old screw:

Make sure it's not dirt. But you're probably fine...don't worry so much.

Looks like it was dirt. But there might have a little bit of corrodion in the area
close to where I got cut, but not in the exact spot.

You can get sick from something corroded and you and get "lock jaw" so you may need to get a tetanus shot. I think if it's under 5 years it's ok but I'm not sear.

Ok, well I'd say you're probably fine.
Do you know if you've gotten a Tetanus shot within the last ten years? They're required in our school district and some others.

Judging by what you've told me, I'd say you're fine and don't have much to worry about :D Just do some research and take some warnings into consideration.

It sounds like I got one 2005, but I don't remember myself. My mom apprently found the old bill, but doesn't say exactly for it for. My mom said something about the insurence not covering this type of shot. She also asked my dad if it came from the right doctor, but he's still too pissed off to give a real answer to anything about this. My dad has really been in a bad mood lately.

Hmm, sounds like you shouldn't talk to your dad right now and mainly focus on your mom.

She's really pissed with me too. I love how my dad can give the final clues that could make me feel better, but he just won't give me the fucking answers.

Wait so how deep does it have to go to be a problem anyway?

just enough to get the bacteria into your blood so that it can circulate to your muscles and cause them to spasm.
Lol, I make it sound bad :P

Sooo, is the fact that it's almost totally healed a good sign.

Yes. If it was going to get infected or give you tetanus, it would have done so when you got the cut. But sometimes it takes a while to show symptoms...

So the fact that it's healing means that I don't have it?

No, 'cause it hasn't been a day and you might haven't shown symtoms.

It's very hard to diagnose anything over the internet and we can't tell you what it is for sure - you use this forum at your own risk. If I was a doctor then it would be easier, but there is no way we can tell for certain.

Best is to go to a doctor in real life just to make sure, because we can't help nearly that much.

So yeah, my parents said that I've gotten the shot. The don't remember the exact year, but they said that I got it with in the last 10 years. So I guess I'm gonna just have to trust them and God.

Great, you should be fine! :D Tho next time when handling anything corroded or rusty, use gloves ;-)

It's a good thing too. The cut was on my neck so I'd pretty much be screwed if I did get it. Anyways, thanks for the help.

i would think so
you can get some disease from getting cut by rusty things like nails
the name slips me but like you have to take shots for it in the us. um let me search...one sec....i think its tetnus
if you get sick...call your doctor. heres a link to more info....

my mom said that a tetanus is one of the dangers...i need more opinions but...my mom works in a hospital so she would know.
