Humans are quite..bothersome, thought August as he silently observed the Alexander and the warrior speak. August exhaled a silent flame from his nostrils.
"Thanks for the food." said Alexander, a strange expression on his face.
"No problem." replied the warrior with an extravagant smile.
Alexander bit into another graciously large piece of meat.
He chewed as he spoke, "Who are you?"
"Gale Fulbright." replied the man.
August's ember eyes glowed bright. The man's name was nothing more than a fabrication. Should he warn Alexander? No, that child knew better than to accept help from him. Alexander could fend for himself as far as he cared.
He returned his attention to Alexander and the impostor.
He noticed Alexanders emotionless expression and immediately knew that Alexander didn't believe him either.
"What brought you here?" inquired Alexander, throwing his bone away.
A muscle twitched near the warrior eye and he shifted uncomfortably.
"I was searching for any survivors and decided too look around here," the man gestured to the charred remains of what might have been a church.
"And decided to bring my weapon along with me just in case I found any enemies. Seems like I found the Prince of our Glorious nation of all people!"
He laughed dryly and wiped some blood off of his cheek.
"Hmm..." Alexander began.
"It must have startled you when the explosion happened, huh?"
The warrior nodded "Of course it did! It was so unexpected, it caught me completely offguard!"
"I'm sure it did."
The warrior narrowed his eyes, lost as to what Alexander meant.
"What do you mean?"
Alexander grinned. "A man who is searching for survivors and brings a weapon in case he encounters any enemies.."
The warrior put on a puzzled expression "And..."
"I think your enemies are the survivors."
The warrior chuckled humorlessly.
"To me, a man who ambushes an innocent man like me without even thinking about whether I was a survivor or not strikes me as quite odd."
Alexander pointed at his clothes and stared at the Man "I fail to see how someone wearing these rags and looking at a shiny stone on the ground could possibly be mistaken for an Enemy."
The warrior said nothing and gazed straight into Alexander eyes. The warriors posture had changed from a nervous crouch to a relaxed hunch. He stroked his chin softly in a nonchalant manner. He seemed amused.
Alexander didn't seemed surprised, nor did he seem to care. August flapped his wings with renewed vigor. This is quite entertaining, thought August.
"Furthermore, You only 'realized' that I was a prince after you realized that you had lost. Not only that but your style of fighting doesn't strike me as that of an inexperienced civilian." Alexander paused briefly, "You know how,who or why this explosion happened and which army carried it out."
"How do you even know there was a battle here to begin with?"
"We can begin by telling me your real name."
"Don't get ahead of yourself."
"I don't plan to." Replied Alexander, a contemptuous grin painted across his face.
"Do you have any idea who you might be dealing with?"
"Do I come off to you as someone who cares?"
"I think you do."
"And what exactly might you know about me?" asked Alexander incredulously.
"Enough."
Alexander left eyebrow reached the clouds.
August was impressed, never before had he seen a human exhibit such intelligence. "You, or whomever you work with has killed hundreds of innocent people and destroyed this town. That person will get what he deserves." threatened Alexander. The warrior pulled out a small vial and drank from it.
"This is," a murderous glance was shared between the two, "quite interesting."
With his bright red eyes and fiery wings ignited from excitement, August found that he couldn't agree more.
