It all depends on your religion. I personally dont know, but Im sure you can find out. Most will also say that it depends on how religious your family is.

Many many things are considered SINS.

Unfortunatly yes i the Roman Catholic religion it is considered sin, so is sex outside of marriage ect ect......

However most people on this earth masturbate, the old saying is 95 percent of people admit to masturbating, the other 5 percent lie.

Masturbation does have health benefits, it helps relieve stress, and im pretty sure i read somewhere it reduces the risk of prostate cancer( might have to look that up again)

Anyways, masturbation is absolutely nothing to feel guilty about, however if you are extremely religious and would be guilt ridden because of it, then dont give in to peer pressue

In short do what makes you happy

It is, you will have to admit it to your priest at confessions.

Technically it is a sin, but I mean, you're gonna have to go on how literally you're going to take the bible...technically, sitting on a couch with a girl who's on her period is considered an "unclean" thing to do, so I mean...

Technically it is a sin. However, not everything in the bible can be taken literally. Some of it just isn't relevant in this time period. The bible says its a sin to shave your beard... That's why I can disregard the passage that says being gay is a sin.

Just being human is a sin... There are just some sins you can't avoid. I'm Roman Catholic also, but I don't let that stop me... Just depends on your perception of your religion. Due to the vagueness of the bible and the commandments, you could be committing sins even though you don't know it. Like you shouldn't lust, but God says we should populate the earth and we can't repopulate without lusting. So, it's very contradictive. Plus, if you don't masturbate, you end up with wet dreams and that's still a "waste of seed" like it says not to do in the bible, you can't avoid it. But I'm sure you're forgiven as long as its nothing major.

As a fellow Catholic who has the same struggle, and to put it plainly, YES. It is a sin. According to the Bible, plus the Cathechism of the Catholic Church (#2352), "By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action."138 "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."

So as I said, yes it is. If you have any more questions like this, I am quite knowledgeable on Church teaching and theology. Just message me and I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability.

Of course it's not a sin, you will not perish in hell. I'm Catholic too but you have to take what the church says with a grain of salt. Remember so many of these priests who preach this stuff were found out to be child molesters, THAT is a sin and will make you perish in Hell. Masturbation and porn are normal. Even the pope was a Nazi once, of course he was a youth. My point isn't that the Pope is evil, just that he has his own serious sins he needs to atone for.

I am a little shocked that a fellow Catholic would say something like that about the holy Father. Let me give you a little history lesson, not in anger, just to let you know what ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Yes, the Pope was in the Hitler Youth, but NO, Benedict XVI DID NOT SUPPORT the Nazis. In fact, he and his entire family hated the Nazis. Why, you ask? Because Benedict's cousin, a family member of him, was executed by the Nazis for being handicapped. The only reason why he was there in the first place was that all German children were required to join. He was assigned to the Luftwaffe anti-aircraft. Even then, he abandoned his post, and was considered a traitor by the Nazis. And please don't even start with that molester lie. YES, some priests were molesters, but the media made it so that ALL priests were molesters, instead of the 0.001% of priests around the world who are actual pedophiles.
Now I know that it is hard to accept many of the Church's teachings, but a sin is a sin, no matter how good it feels. Yes, masturbation and porn have become normal, but it is still a SIN. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide whether to do it or not. Just remember that one day, we will all be judged for our decisions in life.
