View Full Version : Not sure if I'm getting abused

Ok this is really embarrassing and if I told this to my mates I'm gonna be the laughing stock for sure. Is it really abuse if sometimes you get slapped during an argument, if you're a guy?
But recently instead of a slap it's a punch. Just last week, it was a hard punch enough to bust my nose and I was bleeding.

Can't believe at age 17 I'm already dealing with this. I get apologies afterwards but I think that busting my nose has gone too far.

As far as slaps, I lost the number of counts but this is the 4th time getting punched. Haven't really told anyone, not even my parents.

Definitely an abuse. The person takes over you, enough to hurt you that bad.

It definitely sounds like assault to me, and if you are in a relationship with this person, romantic or not, then yes it is abuse. Repetitive violence is a form of abuse. And the fact that you are a guy doesn't change anything, it sounds like you are being abused by somebody and i really recommend telling someone. Any person that laughs at that is just not a good friend in the first place.

Yes I'm in a 10 month-old relationship. The person I'm referring to is really my gf. She's not really a short girl but more like 5'9 and 145 Ibs (while I'm 6'1) and her hits do still hurt. Thing is she does take advantage of the current situation as it's really not in me to hurt girls in any way.

I still can't believe her last punch was enough to draw blood. I feel like a total loser (that's what she calls me at times too).

I heard of what makes abusive men tick and it's usually about power and control; they want to feel superior seeing how the weaker one can't do nothing.

But what about a girl? What can possible make an only 16 year-old girl react that way?

yea its , u shouldnt let anyone hurts u hunBut she does apologizes afterwards. I was told it wasn't gonna happen again, the first time I'm told that promise other than just getting told I'm sorry.

She is abusing you. Next time she tries to hit you, restrain her. Do not harm her, but do not let her harm you. If she refuses to calm down, break up with her. You do not deserve to be abused.
