Well, here's my story or whatever. I am 15 years old and I am 6'5. Last time I checked I weighed about 285 pounds, that was like a year ago. I am overweight and I hate myself everyday for it. I really want to lose weight and I mean like 120 pounds, because then I would probably be a normal weight. I used to be skinny until I got into video games and computers and stuff. Now I'm pathetic, I don't even go outside except to go to school. I feel fat, I know everyone thinks I am weird. It just sucks. Whenever I think "I'm gonna lose weight" I never get the motivation to do anything. So my question is what is a good way to be motivated (I am hard to motivate, so keeping track of how much I lose won't do)? Also, what is a safe amount of time to lose 120 pounds over? Also, what are some good, fun forms of exercise? I like playing basketball and riding bikes if that helps. Please help, also one more question, do you think being 6'5 is freakish? I do, I feel like no one will ever want to date me. :( :(

First off, as a 6'8 guy I know that really tall people dont look half as fat as they think they do, so dont stress yourself out about your looks too much. Personally the most fun form of exercise for me is just to go to my school's weight room put on some nice music and run for 15-30 minutes, then I go into upper body/lower body workouts and w/e else. Basketball and volleyball are also really fun sports to get some exercise (and great for tall people too ;D) but be careful what kind of surfaces you play on. I hurt my knees back in 8th grade from being tall and heavy and playing basketball on cement courts all day long. As for eating, just drink alot of water instead of sodas and fruit juice and cut down on salt, you'll probably drop 20lbs alone from that. I'm sure you know enough about healthy foods to add them in as you're ready. I wouldnt worry about a # goal for lbs lost (esp since 165 is VERY skinny for a 6'5 kid and you should be gaining weight through puberty anyway), but just judge your progress based on your fitness levels, energy, mood, and stuff like that. Hope I helped.

You're pretty tall, so I imagine you don't look nearly as fat as you think you do. I've got pretty low self esteem too, but I'm working on it. I've been doing this workout program called INSANITY, and it's awesome. You should email my health coach (or that's what I call him :P) check out his website at leanwithlinder.tumblr.com. You don't have to sign up or anything, he just gives advice about workouts and diets and stuff. He's a good dude :)
